MODERN FAMILY RECAP: OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN

By  |

This week’s episode was great because we got to see some different relationships. Lily was with Claire and Gloria, Luke was with Jay, and Cam and Mitch were with Alex and Manny. I really enjoyed the exploration of these relationships that we don’t get to see (maybe Alex rubbed off on me a little bit after watching this episode J ). Let’s get to it!

Cam and Mitch took Alex and Manny to the Museum for a day of smart fun. They joked about being the cultured members of the family. When they arrived at the Museum, the exhibit Cam wanted to see was no longer there. He worried about being the “weak link” of the smart group so he went outside. This put Mitchell on edge because without Cam, he was now wearing the dunce cap. This went on for awhile, and it was established that Alex was definitely the smartest in the group. They decided to ditch the museum (Alex was tired of “dumbing it down” all day) and get some food at the food trucks.

Gloria and Claire took Lily to get her flower girl dress because Cam and Mitch didn’t want to see her dress until their wedding day. They felt the balance between Gloria’s style and Claire’s style would work well. Once they got to the mall, Lily wanted a Belle costume for her dress and they told her she had to go to the bridal store and get a real flower girl dress. At the store, Lily tried on a few dresses (and wasn’t happy about it). Gloria wanted her to try on a ton of dresses because she wanted to make a day out of it (since she doesn’t have any girls) but Claire was ready to go. She let it slip that she didn’t wear a wedding dress when she married Phil and Gloria was all over it! She made her try on a wedding gown to feel beautiful, but it just wasn’t Claire’s thing (even though she looked beautiful). They were so focused on Claire’s dress that they didn’t notice Lily leave. They found her in a store with the Belle costume on and she loved it. They called Mitch and Cam and they said it was alright for her to wear that dress. She wanted to be a princess and she was happy, that’s all that mattered.

Luke was spending some man time with Jay in the garage. Jay taught him how to use tools and encouraged him to take shop in school because it was important for him to know how to build things. Luke enjoyed his time with his grandfather. Jay almost let him have his first sip of beer, but didn’t want to rob Phil of experiencing that moment. He gave Luke tools and some manly advice and it was a nice family moment.

Andy (the male Nanny) wanted to make a special anniversary present for his girlfriend. Phil suggested that he make a special video for her, with Phil’s help of course. He set up a green screen and video camera and they had a blast making a loving (and hilarious) video for his girlfriend Beth.

Haley saw the whole thing and thought it was so lame at first, until she saw how sweet a man could be when he really liked and respected a girl (meanwhile her date was 5 hours late and honking the horn for her to come out because he wasn’t even nice enough to come to the door. Rude! She kicked him to the curb thank goodness). Haley started to think it was cute how Andy and her Dad made the movie until Alex pointed out to her that Andy was just like their Dad! She was grossed out completely by the comparison, but she still thought there was something about him she liked. Will she act on her new found feelings for Andy? Hopefully we will found out next week on Modern Family!

Do you think Haley is done with her Bad-Boy phase? Will we ever see Andy’s coast guard girlfriend? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
