The ABC spin-off series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will be returning to the primetime line-up starting on Thursday, March 6 at 8 PM. And while the show has struggled not only creatively but also in the ratings during the first half of its debut season, which consisted of eight episodes, there are still at least 5 episodes (if not more) yet to come to bring the remaining storylines to a conclusion.

As a refresher, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland tells the story of the young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe), who tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing-cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure. She is sent to a mental institution by her well-meaning father where she escapes with the help of the Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the White Rabbit (voiced by John Lithgow) in order to rescue her presumed dead love, the genie Cyrus (Peter Gadiot).

Once in Wonderland the Knave and Alice have to battle the evil Jafar (Naveen Andrews from Lost) and the seemingly merciless Red Queen (Emma Rigby) [who turns out to be the Knave’s former love]; but at the end of the first half of the season, it appears that the Queen isn’t as mean as she leads everyone to believe, Cyrus is just as capable of escape as Alice and the Knave finds himself in a bit of trouble, being trapped inside of Cyrus’s magic bottle.

In the first two episodes of the spring airings [SPOILER ALERT!!!], The Knave is released from the bottle, but at what price? Meanwhile, Cyrus and Alice reluctantly team with the Red Queen to rescue the Knave. Jafar, of course, is still on his mission to get what he wants out of Alice. And, there will be flashbacks to Cyrus’s past focusing on what happened to his mother and brothers and what happens once the trio rescue the Knave and the four team up against Jafar and his next plan of attack.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will be back on ABC starting on March 6 at 8/7c.
