MODERN FAMILY RECAP: THE FEUD
Let me start off by asking, did any of you have the scratchies after watching this episode? I wanted to run and take another shower after seeing all the lice stuff. Yuck! Anyway, even with the scratchies it was another funny episode so let’s get down to it.
Phil was nervous because he was up for re-election against Gil Thorpe (his cocky rival) for social chair and he lost. Gil showed up at his house to gloat and Phil had to hand over his medallion that only the social chair has. Phil wasn’t too happy about it because he respects the medallion and he knew that Gil wouldn’t.
Mitch and Cam have to opportunity to meet with an award winning director of photography for their wedding so they needed Claire to pick Lily up from school. Just after Claire agreed, they found out there was a lice scare in Lily’s class. They thought about warning Claire, but figured it would just freak her out so they decided not to tell her.
Claire picked Lily up and they had a great time together. Claire put her hair over Lily’s hair so she could be blonde for a picture (uh oh). She dropped Lily off and headed to a sales meeting that Mitchell set up for her. Meanwhile, Cam notices that Lily can’t stop scratching her head. He calls Mitchell (who is with Claire) to tell him Lily had lice and to warn Claire. Mitchell could see Claire in the meeting scratching her head like crazy. Luckily, she still won the business (even though she was ready to kill Mitchell for not telling her about the lice).
Luke decided to try wrestling out and he was having his first match. Phil and Jay came to support him and told him to have fun. Everything changed when they realized Luke was wrestling Gil’s son. Now Phil wanted him to destroy him, and Jay jumped in on the rivalry when he saw who Gil’s father was(he had several unpleasant encounters with him). They really wanted Luke to stick it to them, but he didn’t. Luke went down right away and they both put their heads down. Luke looked into the stands and saw their disappointment and you couldn’t help but feel for the guy.
Phil and Jay told Luke they were proud of him and felt bad that they let the rivalry get to them. They bumped into the Thorpe’s at a restaurant afterwards and when Gil’s son starting choking, Luke helped him without thinking twice. There was confusion that he might be attacking him so it gave Phil, Jay, Gil and his father the chance to push each other around, until the waitress pointed out Luke was saving him and they all sat down.
In the car on the way home, Jay told Luke he was the biggest man in the car for reacting so quickly. Luke admitted that Gil’s son said he choked at the wrestling match and he did jump on him. Way to go Luke! They decided to keep that piece of information to themselves.
Gloria is a chaperone for Manny’s class trip to the museum. Manny was embarrassed because his new shoes were squeaking and the kids in his class picked on people for everything. Manny tried to walk silently and stayed away from the group. Gloria tried to tell Manny not to worry what other people thought about him, but she had to eat her words when she started having a reaction to her allergy medicine and the whole side of her face was red. She wanted to run and hide. Manny brought it to her attention that she shouldn’t care what people thought, and she was going to suck it up and show her face. Manny couldn’t let her do it so he distracted the class with his squeaky shoes so she could escape. She was so proud of his bravery, and the funny thing was no one cared about his squeaky shoes, but they did make fun of his pink shirt.
Alex and Haley were hiding in the basement the entire episode because they discovered a possum in the basement while carrying a mirror downstairs. Cam and Lily came down to get the Lice kit and Cam screamed when he saw the possum. Then Alex and Haley screamed because they thought they were alone. Then Claire came down to see what the screaming was about and she looked crazy with her hair all over her head. She also screamed and it was pretty funny!
Gil showed up at the Dunphy’s to praise Luke for saving his son. Phil played along and knew how to get his revenge. He had Lily come upstairs (he told Cam to hold off on the lice kit) so “Uncle Gil” could give her a piggy back ride. Looks like lice will be taking its turn in the Thorpe household as well. Gross!
