DRACULA – 1.09 ‘Four Roses’ Lucy’s Reward

Lady Jayne is bringing all hunters to bear, only to encounter first blood has already been shed.

Mina is recovering from her attack, however nightmares bedevil her and remembering the truth is too terrifying to consider. When she asks Vlad to stay a little longer I thought he very well might battle the sun just to sit by her bedside. She escapes the hospital and confronts Harker with his own actions which does not lead to rainbows and unicorns. When Mr. Grayson appears again, with another rose, Mina gains enough courage to confront Alexander regarding their feelings.

Mina:”What’s happening between us? “
Vlad: “I don’t know….all I can say is, you remind me of someone I loved. “

When the truth of the matter is uncovered and they acknowledge Vlads lost love, a tentative foundation is created.

Mr. Grayson continues to stew over the attack on his beloved and demands blood in payment. He pays Van Helsing a visit and confronts him regarding his suspicions on the abducted children. Drac raids a billiards party bringing several uninvited guests along for the fun. Poor Rothrock, hopefully he was drained quickly.

Browning is no closer to the truth.

Abraham raids his cubby-hole and clears out Vlad’s blood apparently choosing now is the time to exit stage left. He considers the partnership between himself and Vlad over and apparently his new plan does involve Mr. Browning’s children.. He wants to hurt the father in the same manner he was injured. Thank goodness a shred of humanity remained and he failed to bash their little heads in with that giant silver hammer.

Mr. Browning  names Alexander Grayson as Dracula to Lady Jayne who does not believe. While Browning is distracted by his children’s abduction Jayne brings him back to point by using his oaths against him. I bet he’s going to live to regret past allegiances.

Jonathan, is upset. AGAIN. It seems Mr. Harker goes from one mistake right to another. Is he really that daft? His stupidity is becoming bothersome and I find myself wishing for his death.  Jonathan, ever the pawn, now seeks out Mr. Browning asking to join The Order. Brilliant. Mr. Harker’s first task is to bring them the blueprints for the Resonator. The poor idiot, he’s sold his soul now.

Renfield is repeatedly, pulled between two strong wills and tasked with putting out fires. Being the only sane mind between two Alphas is a impossible task. I wonder when he might fall from the tightrope he’s been walking.

Mina now has the rest of her undead life to ponder the error of her ways.

Lucy is falling apart after her tryst with Jonathan. She confesses her love of Mina to her mother who is horrified. She visit’s Mina and I wonder if flowers are an appropriate gift for betrayal. They say confession is good for the soul, but I’m betting spilling her guts to Mina didn’t help one little bit. The result of all this chaos creating is returned to her in spades when Vlad bestows upon her the gift that keeps on giving.
