DRAGON CON: SILAS WEIR MITCHELL AND CLAIRE COFFEE TALK GRIMM

There were three Grimm panels at Dragon Con this year and I was thrilled. On Friday August 30, Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe) and Claire Coffee (Adalind) did a Q&A panel with fans and we were lucky to get some scoop on their characters, hobbies, and the upcoming season.

When asked if they were anything like their characters Silas said, “You don’t want to see Claire when she gets mad” and the room erupted in laughter. Claire said she is driven like Adalind but they have nothing in common wardrobe wise. One thing she likes about Adalind is that she has no sympathy or empathy, so she can do whatever she wants without any emotion (although it might be harder for her now since she lost her powers).  Silas said like Monroe, he has a good sense of smell and he likes wine. Silas likes the way Monroe’s mind works but sometimes wishes he was a little more assertive in his human life.

Theories about what would happen if Rosalee and Monroe had a baby were very popular with the fans. When asked if they had a baby would it be a Blutbad or a Fuchsbau, Silas said, “I promise that question will be answered.” Oooh! Then he was asked if it would be a baby or a litter and Silas laughed and said, “We talked about that idea, it has been discussed, but I can’t speak on it. Wesen husbandry is not my strong suit.”

As a teaser for the upcoming season Silas said in an early episode we will get to see Monroe “get off the chain” showing off his blutbad side. He also teased that there will be creatures based on animal guardians from Egyptian Mythology. Claire said Adalind’s mean streak “will get worse before it gets better” and she has an unusual scene that involves dismembered body parts (which was also one of her favorite scenes to shoot).

We couldn’t let them leave without telling us what TV shows they geek out about. Silas likes Game of Thrones and Battlestar Galactica. Claire is a huge fan of Orphan Black (she would love Tatiana Maslany to guest star on the show) and Dr. Who.

Fun Fact: Silas Weir Mitchell speaks English, Italian, French and is learning German! Gotta love a multi-lingual man!
