ABC Family

Welcome to Ravenswood

By  |

On October 22, the Pretty Little Liars spin-off series Ravenswood will debut on ABC Family, right after the annual Halloween episode of its predecessor.

The series is set in the fictional town of Ravenswood, Pennsylvania, a neighboring town to that of Rosewood where all the action of Pretty Little Liars has taken place until Spencer Hastings (Pretty Little Liars series lead Troian Bellisario) and her boyfriend Toby Cavanaugh (Pretty Little Liars series regular Keegan Allen) venture to Ravenswood based on a lead into the disappearance and death of Alison DeLaurentis (recurring Sasha Pieterse).

In the summer finale of Pretty Little Liars at the end of August, all four of the Liars headed to Ravenswood, finding what seems to be the main base of operations for their tormentor “A” and a massive lead into whether Alison is really alive or dead.

One of the last scenes of that finale found Caleb Rivers (Tyler Blackburn, who is a series regular on both shows) boarding a bus to Ravenswood to help his girlfriend Hanna Marin (series regular Ashley Benson).

As Ravenswood rolls out, Caleb decides to stay in the mysterious town in order to help out his new friend Miranda Collins (Ravenswood series lead Nicole Gale Anderson from Beauty And the Beast); but he begins to rethink his decision especially after he meets Miranda’s cold and unwelcoming uncle Raymond (series regular Steven Cabral).

He also has some unpleasant interactions with local resident Luke Matheson (series regular Brett Dier), who is struggling to deal with a recent family tragedy and its ensuing scandal, which has also swept up his twin sister Olivia (series regular Merritt Patterson). Unnerved by what they witnessed the night of a party, and besieged by strange and supernatural occurrences, Caleb and Miranda begin to investigate this bizarre town. Their first ally is Ravenswood teen Remy Beaumont (series regular Britne Oldford), who has a keen insight to the town’s peculiar history and has started connecting some troublesome dots. These five teens have no idea how connected their lives are and the plans that Ravenswood has in store for them.

The series will also find legendary actress Meg Foster (the classic 80’s flick They Live) returning as the creepy Carla Grunwald, a resident of Ravenswood and former house mother of the nearby college who has a connection to Alison; actor Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue) and his real-life wife actress Sophina Brown (Shark) who will play on-screen couple Simon and Terry Beaumont, parents to Remy; and actor Justin Bruening (All My Children) as Benjamin Price, a teacher at Ravenswood High School.

The first season of Ravenswood, which consists of 10 episodes, comes from I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick and Joseph Dougherty.

Ravenswood will debut on ABC Family at 9/8c on October 22.
