MODERN FAMILY RECAP: THE LATE SHOW

Phil tried to get his sexy back with a new suit (that was incredibly too tight). He wanted Claire to notice what a “tall drink of water” he was and of course she walked right past him when she got home! You can’t blame him for trying.

Everyone was getting ready for a fancy dinner and they were all running late. Cam was trying to pick out their save the date cards for their wedding, Claire was running late from work, and Gloria was having her hair blown out.

Luke wants to stay home alone for the first time and Claire wasn’t too sure he was ready. Phil said if he was old enough to watch The Walking Dead, then he was old enough to stay home alone (love The Walking Dead Shout out). Claire proved her point when she hit the smoke alarm to see if he knew what to do, and he said “Mom! Someone’s at the door!” Yeah, I would be worried too.

Mitchell can’t believe how long it took Cam to get ready and when he finally was, they had on the same suit! Lily said “You did it again.”  Neither of them wanted to change so they asked Lily and Alex who they thought wore it best. They knew better than to answer that one. Mitchell changed and as they were leaving, Cam opened a can of soda and it sprayed all over him and he squealed (like only Cam can). He accused Mitchell of shaking the soda on purpose so he would be forced to change (which I think is over the top, even for Cam).

Claire had a feeling something was wrong when Luke didn’t answer the phone, so she turned around and went back home to check on him. She opened the door and Luke screamed “Die pizza man!” and shot her multiple times with a paintball gun (all over her white shirt I might add). She definitely needed to change.

Jay and Gloria arrived at the fancy restaurant first (after Jay forced her to leave after she took forever to get ready). Jay couldn’t believe that no one was there yet. Cam and Mitchell arrived next and when Mitchell took off his coat, he had put the original outfit back on and Cam was not happy about it. Claire and Phil finally got there and Phil’s suit was so tight he fell out of the car and onto the valet. Hilarious!

Cam and Mitchell stepped outside to settle their argument and when they do, Claire and Phil followed in their footsteps and did the same thing. Finally when everyone made up and they were ready to go to their table, the hostess had given their table away. Gloria yelled at her and they got kicked out of the restaurant.

They ended up having a better meal at a taco truck laughing, singing, dancing and enjoying family time. Highlight of the dinner? When Phil bent down and his suit pants ripped! That suit didn’t stand a chance!  You’ve got to love this family!

Modern Family airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.
