HART OF DIXIE Recap: On the Road Again

It’s the season finale of Hart of Dixie and some stuff – goes – down.

It is the morning after the last episode and Zoe wakes up feeling blissful, that is until she finds Wade still in her house. She is hoping this is all a bad dream but really Wade in a towel asking if you want to, “go again” is hardly nightmare material. It’s about to get worse though as George takes this moment to show up. I talking show up in her bedroom. I know its Bluebell but no one knocks? We just walk in to people’s homes now?

Wade makes his way into the kitchen in Lavon’s house and he is in a glorious mood. Kissing Annabeth on the cheek and talking about what a beautiful day it is. Zoe also makes her way to the kitchen as Wade is leaving and thanks to her ridiculous behavior both Annabeth and Lavon figure out what she and Wade did. They give her the disappointed look. Zoe says she doesn’t want to talk about.

Lemon is at the Rammer Jammer when Magnolia tracks her down. Since Brick is out of town Magnolia wants Lemon to take her to the Gloriana show in Birmingham. You can imagine Lemon’s answer to this. Lemon doesn’t have time to ponder Magnolia’s small tantrum though because the Belle’s are there for their meeting. One of the belles brings up how busy Lemon has been with the Rammer Jammer lately. She thinks maybe they should appoint a new leader. Lemon agrees and Cricket steps up to the plate. The belle that started all this talk mocks Lemon being the proprietor of a road house which of course makes Lemon says something she can’t back up. She announces Gloriana is playing a secret show at the Rammer Jammer this Saturday.

Zoe is also at the Rammer Jammer looking for George. Wanda tells Zoe Tansy left and Zoe looks shocked. Before she can rush out to look for George though Jonah steps up to interrupt her escape. Zoe questions why he is there but doesn’t stay long enough to hear his answer.

Zoe finds George on his houseboat that night drinking away his sorrows. He doesn’t want to chat with her, but she wants to explain that what he saw this morning wasn’t anything. It meant nothing. She insists she still has feelings for him. George thinks she has a funny way of showing it. He reminds her they haven’t even been on a date so whatever this is is not reality. George goes on to say in reality she truly has feelings for Wade. Something she denies but not wholeheartedly. He leaves her standing there.

The next morning Lavon is in talking to Annabeth but in the theme of not knocking in Bluebell Zoe choses that moment to just waltz right in. In fact she gets right in bed with them. She explains what George said and wants them to tell her George is wrong, she is not still hung up on Wade. Lavon says the only way to gain some perspective is to get away for a while, maybe she should go to that wedding in New York she has been invited too. Zoe doesn’t like their advice so she storms out.

Lemon is trying to get Gloriana on the phone to invite them to the Rammer Jammer and when she hangs up Wade tells her he saw the posters at the store announcing the Gloriana concert. Lemon looks like she might be ill. The posters are courtesy of the belles.
George is at another table when Dash comes up to him to ask if Tansy leaving has anything to do with George and Zoe finally getting together. He says there is no George and Zoe and he doesn’t want to deal with this right now. Wade watches with interest.

Wade heads over to Zoe’s with a six pack to see if Zoe wants to hang out. She actually leans into him for a second before coming to her senses. She grabs a suitcase and starts to pack. She tells Wade she isn’t getting involved with him, he hurt her. New York here she comes.

At the Rammer Jammer Lemon is telling Annabeth how she finally got Gloriana to agree to sit down with her. She may have exaggerated the Rammer Jammer’s appeal and seating capacity though. While Annabeth is sure Lemon can do her fair share of talking when she meets the band she thinks it might be a good idea to bring Wade with her since he does know a thing or two about music. It might come in handy. Wade is at the bar pouting and looking pretty blue. Maybe shenanigans with Lemon will snap him out of his mood.

Zoe is on the plane to New York, having actually gone through with her plan to get away from Bluebell for the weekend. The lady in the seat next to her can’t believe Zoe is single and going to a wedding alone. She wants to know what is wrong with Zoe and she has the time and the will to listen to the whole sorted tale.

Back in Bluebell George is about to take the day off to do some drinking when Lilly Anne finds him. She needs his help, just some quick legal advice. He agrees as long as he can drink while doing the advising.

Wade is driving Lemon to Birmingham to talk to Gloriana when she spills that Gloriana isn’t actually booked to play the Rammer Jammer yet. She wants to know what has him so upset and then she guesses it. He slept with Zoe Hart. Her deducing skills are right on par with Sherlock Holmes.
Zoe is still on her flight explaining her story to the lady in the seat next to her. Zoe is explaining it from her point of view while Wade does the same with Lemon. Wade thought they were back to the casual sex thing they were doing before but Zoe can’t believe he would think that. The lady on the plane says she agrees with the lawyer, Zoe is still into the bartender. She asks if Zoe still loves him and she adamantly denies it. When Lemon asks Wade he also denies it just as strongly.

Zoe is about to go back to reading her book and listening to music when the pilot comes over the loud speaker asking if there is a doctor on board. They have an emergency. Zoe stands up to say she is a doctor at the same time Jonah stands up to announce he is a doctor as well.
Jonah and Zoe get to the guy who passed out. They pull open his shirt to see a huge bruise near his heart. He has an air bubble in his chest that they need to relieve. Jonah is about to make an incision when Zoe notices another symptom. She gets an Epi-Pen from the lady who was sitting next to her and jabs it into the man. They put an oxygen mask on him and he starts breathing. Jonah tells her nice work.

George and Lilly Anne are at the Rammer Jammer where he drafts a letter for her. Lilly is happy he is heartbroken because that is something she knows a lot about. George fills Lilly in on the calling off his wedding for Zoe but he was too late and then Tansy leaving and him being too late again. Lilly thinks he needs to write a song but he is going to be content just drinking Zoe away. Of course at that moment Zoe is on TV talking about saving the man’s life on the plane. George can’t catch a break. That is enough for George to want to write a breakup song.

Lemon and Wade are still driving only now Lemon is going over what she is going to say to Gloriana. Wade is barely listening though because he is still thinking about Zoe. Lemon thinks he is selling himself short when it comes to Zoe. He now owns a bar and when asked he says he hasn’t slept with anyone since Zoe. The old Wade wouldn’t have been able to say that. Lemon says the truth is he has changed, being with Zoe made him better and vice versa.
Lemon’s cell phone rings, it’s Cricket telling Lemon about Zoe being on TV and how the plane had to make an emergency landing. Wade hears this and spins the car around, he is going after Zoe.

Zoe and Jonah are getting a car to rent so they can drive to Atlanta to catch another flight to New York. She thinks saving that man’s life is just what she needed that adrenaline rush. Jonah thinks she should take the summer to be in New York, spend some more time than just a weekend away from Bluebell.

Wade gets to the rental car place too late but he thinks they can catch up with them. Lemon says no. She loves grand gestures but they need to get Gloriana to play the Rammer Jammer. He says fine, she’s right. As soon as Lemon is in the car he looks at her and she knows they aren’t turning around to go to Birmingham.

Lilly Anne and George have written four napkins of lyrics for his heartbreak song. She says now George has to sing his song, he says nope. When George gets up to get another drink Lilly Anne gets up on the stage and says, “Welcome George Tucker!” He grabs his napkins lyrics and gets up and sings his heartache song. I don’t’ know why I’m always so surprised at how well Scott Porter sings but I am and it is lovely.

Lemon has to go to the bathroom again while Wade complains about how they will never catch Zoe at this pace. Lemon gets off the phone with Gloriana’s manager who is telling Lemon she missed the meeting and they won’t be preforming at the Rammer Jammer when Lemon sees Jonah. Wade looks up to see Zoe there as well.
Lemon sits down to have some food with Jonah while Wade and Zoe go to talk. Jonah looks a little worried and Lemon chastises him. He says to calm down, he doesn’t do love but there is something about Zoe that intrigues him.
Outside Wade apologizes to Zoe. He tells her how much better he was with her. He knows how much he hurt her but everything he has done since is an effort to be that man she always knew he could be. Wade wants her to just consider giving him another chance; he will be there for her in every way. He ends the speech with, “I love you Zoe Hart.” Her response, “Oh wow.” She says she needs a little distance but she does still have deep feelings for him. Wade says he will see her on Monday, right? She says she is going to spend the summer in New York; she got a job offer from her old Chief. She leaves him standing there outside the diner.

Lilly Anne finds George on his houseboat. She wondered where he ran off too. She has an offer for him. Her band is going on tour starting tomorrow and she could use another voice. What does he think?

That night at the Rammer Jammer it is packed with people waiting to hear Gloriana. Wade and Lemon see all the people and Lemon looks defeated. She tells Cricket Gloriana isn’t coming but Cricket looks confused. She says Gloriana is there already. She calls them over. They say the Rammer Jammer has a great vibe and they can’t wait to go on. There manager told them Lemon was very persuasive.

While they are playing we see Zoe is in New York at her friend’s wedding and Wade is watching Gloriana perform but he isn’t enjoying himself, he has a very sad look on his face.
George, meanwhile, is tossing a duffle bag into the back of his truck so it looks like he is going on tour with Lilly Anne.
Back at the wedding Zoe is looking at a picture of Wade on her phone. She looks up to see Jonah. He didn’t want her to spend her first night in New York alone. She agrees that Jonah can go to the wedding with her if he promises not to talk. She takes a deep breath and walks into the wedding.

Well thank goodness this show was renewed for another season because I’m not okay with that being the ending to the show.
