DROP DEAD DIVA Casting Announcement: Meet Jane’s New Guardian Angel

By  |

There’s gonna be a new (guardian) angel in town!!

Drop Dead Diva, which was brought back from the grave (much like its lead character Jane Bingum) by its home network Lifetime, will be welcoming a new face to its cast.

Relative newcomer Jason Deeley has landed the role of Jane’s new guardian angel Paul, who is described as being gorgeous with a great body and an adorable personality. He is a likable free spirit in the truest sense of the word. His body comes straight out of an Abercrombie & Fitch ad, and he has the carefree attitude of a Zen surfer. He is funny, sweet and surprised by others’ obsessions with his looks while he is blissfully unaware that he’s not the sharpest knife in the shed.

For those who need a refresher, Drop Dead Diva centers on aspiring model Deborah “Deb” Dobkins (Brooke D’Orsay), who was killed in a car crash and is brought back to life as lawyer Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliot). Actor Carter MacIntyre took over as Jane’s guardian angel in the fourth season, taking over the reins from actor Ben Feldman, who played Jane’s first guardian angel Fred. MacIntyre will appear in the fifth season in at least one episode.

Jason has had a recurring role on 90210 and a role in the 2009 box office film Couples Retreat.

UPDATE: Lifetime announced the show will be back starting on June 23.
