HART OF DIXIE Recap: If Tomorrow Never Comes

The Human Wrecking Ball: Zoe is in bed eating donut holes while she looks at pictures of Tansy and George moving in together. It’s like Dash is Bluebell’s own TMZ. Zoe chokes on a donut hole and gives herself the Heimlich…might be time to get out of bed. Zoe takes this near death experience to mean she is going to die alone and it doesn’t help that she finds Annabeth and Lavon all happy and having breakfast together in the kitchen.
Zoe heads into the office to find Brick meeting behind closed doors with Jonah. Zoe is sure Brick is trying to muscle her out of the practice and even though Brick is about to tell her that isn’t true she starts in on her near death by donut story. Just then Shelby shows up to take Brick to lunch. He could not be happier for the distraction.
At the office Jonah is trying to return the file he was consulting on with Brick earlier but Zoe won’t let him. She keeps grabbing for the file while he warns her she doesn’t want to see it. She stomps on his foot with her pointy high heeled shoes.
Jonah: What were you Israeli Army?
It’s Brick’s file. He has a tumor; he lied about the MRI in the last episode being nothing. He is going into surgery tomorrow.
The next day Zoe goes to visit Brick and apologize for her attitude the day before. Zoe just wants to know why he didn’t tell her. Brick calls her a blabbermouth. Something she can’t disagree with. She wants Brick to tell his kids but he doesn’t want to worry them. Brick says he told Shelby and she has been very supportive and a true partner. Of course this makes single, I’m going to die along because I choked on a donut Dr. Hart tear up. Her tears make Brick uncomfortable so he leaves.
While walking through the Town Square later Zoe runs into Shelby. Zoe spews her there could be complications; you need to prepare for death talk at Shelby who understandably freaks out a wee bit.
That afternoon Jonah confronts Zoe with a note Shelby left for Brick taped to their front door. She left town and Brick, thanks to Zoe.
“I was in denial until Zoe Hart opened my eyes to the risks associated with brain surgery. I went right to Google…”
Zoe says they have to find her and fix this ASAP. Zoe and Jonah can’t find Shelby anywhere though so Zoe gets Jonah to print Shelby’s internet history and decides she must be at her favorite store.
Zoe: I’m like that guy Elementary.
Jonah: You know his name is not Elementary.
She is going to find Shelby and get her to the hospital.
Zoe finds Shelby at her favorite store and tells her she needs to get to the hospital for Brick. Shelby says she can’t do it; she isn’t strong enough to overcome her fear. Zoe doesn’t care; she just wants Shelby there at the hospital when Brick goes into the OR. Shelby isn’t going anywhere but Zoe grabs Shelby’s purse and says you follow me out or I’m going to rip up your coupons. Shelby follows her right out of the store.
Zoe gets Shelby to the hospital and bully’s Shelby into going in to see Brick before the surgery.
Shelby says hi to Brick and gives him a big hug and kiss. Brick wants Shelby to know how much he loves her and takes a moment to propose. Shelby stands frozen for a moment and says yes in a very questioning way.
In the waiting room Jonah is lecturing Zoe about kidnapping and causing bigger problems while Shelby sits quietly by.
At the hospital Brick comes out of surgery to see Zoe and Jonah in his room, he is going to make a full recovery, the surgery was a success. Zoe and Jonah are about to tell Brick about Shelby when she comes bursting in to say she talked to his doctor and she is so glad he is okay. She can’t wait to marry him.
In the waiting room Jonah calls Zoe a human wrecking ball, now Brick is going to marry a woman that will not be with him in sickness, only health. When Jonah presses her to find out why she even got involved Zoe admits that she didn’t want Brick to die.
Zoe: That stubborn crabby jerk is the closest thing I’ve got to a father in this town.
Zoe makes him promise he will never repeat that. She also says she will tell Brick about Shelby as soon as Shelby leaves.
Zoe finds Brick alone in his room and talks to him about Shelby. She tells Brick how she drug Shelby back to town. Brick says Shelby panicked, it happens. Shelby has already told him all about the kidnapping and coupon hostage taking. Brick says he loves Shelby and he will take whatever time he can have with her.
I have to admit I like Brick and Zoe as somewhat friend’s way better than I did as enemies.
Brick says if there is someone Zoe loves she better tell them now, time is fleeting. Of course Zoe heads right over to George’s houseboat.

Event Planning: Lemon and Wade are sitting down for their owner’s meeting and it looks like Wanda is back being the waitress. Thank goodness. They both bring up the profit the Rammer Jammer has made. Wade took the profits and reinvested it into a big flat screen TV. He has visions of turning the Rammer Jammer into a sports bar. Lemon, as you can imagine, is upset. Also she took that same profit and invested it into an antique parlor set for the new salon area of the Rammer Jammer. She has visions of high class wine tastings and book club parties. Now Wade is upset, so still not smooth sailing with their partnership.
I’m sorry but I have to side with Wade, an antique parlor set for what is essentially a dive bar?
The Belles are meeting and Annabeth and Lemon are sitting in the back complaining about what a tool Wade is. Annabeth suggests that maybe Wade is a visual learner. Lemon is going to have to show him her vision. Annabeth stands up and announces Lemon has a code red emergency. Lemon says they have a big event at the Rammer Jammer and she needs their help. They invoke the emergency phone tree to make sure it is well attended.
Annabeth and Lavon are walking through the Town Square while Annabeth tells him about Lemon’s surprise makeover of the Rammer Jammer for that evening. Lavon looks worried and we flashback to five hour earlier where Wade is talking to Lavon about the sport bar makeover. There is a MMA event on TV that night and they are going to give Lemon a demonstration. Wade and Lavon use the Longshoreman’s Union as their Belle’s/Helpers.
Annabeth is mad at Lavon for helping Wade and Lavon is upset at Annabeth for supporting Lemon’s idea. They start to fight but they can’t have their first fight over Wade and Lemon. They decide to steer clear of Wade, Lemon and the Rammer Jammer for the next 24 hours.
Wade and Lemon are both at the bar waiting for their reinforcements to arrive. They are trying to get the other one out of the bar so they can do the remodel. Neither are budging.
At the store Lavon and Annabeth split up long enough to call their best friends and warn them. They both suggest they don’t back down and set up anyway.
Over at the Rammer Jammer Lemon sets up half of the Rammer Jammer with her wine tasting décor and Wade sets up the other half of the Rammer Jammer with his sports bar theme. Neither of them are going to get their way though because Wade sent her wine back and Lemon cut the cable for the fight.
In the kitchen of Lavon’s house Annabeth and Lavon are making dinner but they don’t have a lot to say to each other and they keep quietly checking their phones. Annabeth can’t do it, she admits she told Lemon about fight night and Lavon says he did the same thing with Wade. They laugh it off and agree to go to the Rammer Jammer to see what is going on.
Lavon and Annabeth get to the Rammer Jammer where Wanda welcomes them to the Rammer Jammers First Annual Wine Tasting Fight Night, where there is no wine or fights. Everyone is mixing and seems to be having a good time. Wade makes up new drinks for everyone to try and Cricket is arm wrestling anyone who “wants some of this”. Turns out she is pretty strong.
Lemon and Wade are drinking at the bar after their big event to their night being a huge success. So much so they decide to tear down a wall and make a function room for big events, like wine tasting and fight nights.
Oh dear, Lemon and Wade decide right then is a good idea to take the wall down and start their function room plans. Except it isn’t a good idea, things start sparking and beams fall down.

Trouble Comes in Threes: On the houseboat Tansy is trying to organize her stuff which is taking up every single open space. George isn’t upset about it at all, he tells Tansy she can stay as long as she’d like. Unfortunately a second later three backwoodsy kinda guy’s show up. They are Tansy’s brothers named; Rudy, Rocket and Chicken. Mmmm…hmmm…backwoodsy. Oh and even better, they are staying for a few days.
The next morning Tansy is putting George’s nice/breakable things away so her brothers, when they wake up, can’t ruin them. She calls them overgrown children that bring chaos with them. They start to stir on the floor where they were sleeping. George offers to take them all to lunch since Tansy has appointments all day. George feels like he should try to get to know her family. She looks worried for George who promises to keep them out of trouble.
George is at the Rammer Jammer with Tansy’s brothers when Wade comes by the table. There are words exchanged since Wade was married to their sister for a short while.
The brothers want to do things like spit balls and order food and ditch but George reins them in. Not long later Tansy’s brothers are wasted and Wade has kicked them out of the Rammer Jammer. They figure the best way to retaliate is to push Wade’s car into the lake, or you know, pee in the tail pipe. George suggests they go home and sleep it off. They mock George’s nap idea and George says that is enough, he is out. He storms off.
On the boat awhile later Tansy is yelling at George for “losing” her brothers. She storms out to find them. Moments later George gets a call from the Sheriff, he has Tansy’s brothers locked up.
George goes to jail to get Tansy’s brothers and has them released to his custody. Tansy gets there to hear George call her brothers family and she tells George how sweet he is. She then turns to her brothers and sternly tells them any more trouble from them and she is calling mama. It sounds ominous and her brothers seem to agree.

Regrets: Zoe heads over to George to tell him she doesn’t want to die with regrets. She was wrong when she told him she didn’t want to date him back when he had just ended his marriage. She liked him and still more than likes him even though he is with someone. She needs him to know.
George is only silent for a moment before he asks her if she is out of her mind. She had every single opportunity to be with him and she didn’t take it. He is with Tansy and he is very happy with her. He heads back into the boat leaving Zoe to walk away regretting having said anything.
