Nice Boy of the Week: Columbus Short
The Nice Boy of the Week this week is actor Columbus Short, who is one of the stars of the highly-addicted ABC Washington D.C.-based drama Scandal.
Columbus was born in Kansas City, Missouri and started putting on shows for his parents at the tender age of three. He would impersonate relatives, dance or just make people laugh. His family eventually relocated to Los Angeles and by his early teens, Columbus appeared in commercials for Mountain Dew, Denny’s, Nike and Pizza Hut (among others).
When he was a senior in high he was offered the opportunity to graduate early in order to join the traveling production of the Broadway show Stomp! After a few years with that production, he became the choreographer for the Britney Spears “In the Zone” tour.
He later got off the road to pursue a career in acting, starring in the box office films You Got Served in 2004, War of the Worlds in 2005 and Save the Last Dance 2 in 2006. His big break came in the 2007 film Stomp the Yard.
Since then he has appeared in the 2008 films Quarantine and Cadillac Records and the 2009 films Armored and Whiteout. In 2010, he starred in the films The Losers and Death at a Funeral and Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming.
As mentioned, he plays Harrison Wright on the much-buzzed-about series Scandal that has slowly – since last TV season – become one of the most popular shows with TV viewers, making great strides in the ratings as well. But appearing in Scandal isn’t his only foray on TV, as he had guest roles on ER, Judging Amy and That’s So Raven and he had a role on the short-lived series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
Among his favorite activities are football, basketball and snowboarding. Fans can follow him on Twitter here and on Facebook here.
