MODERN FAMILY: Bad Hair Day Recap

By  |

We had a Married with Children reunion this week on Modern Family with Guest star David Faustino. I was excited to see him, but hoped he would have scenes with his former TV Dad but he didn’t. It was still another great episode so let’s get down to it!

Claire was getting ready for her college reunion. Secretly, she was hoping that Phil wouldn’t go with her so she wouldn’t have to tell him who everyone was, or explain inside jokes to him. Luckily for her Phil couldn’t go because he was bowling with Jay in a tournament. He was so excited, he got some new shoes that caused him to slip and slide all over the kitchen (and fall a few times too).

At the Pritchett’s, Gloria is enjoying her time as a busy new Mom and likes for everyone to see her that way. Manny is feeling down because he had three unsuccessful singing auditions. Gloria asked Jay to take him shopping to cheer him up. Jay was hesitant because he had a ritual when it came to tournament day, but he took Manny anyway. Manny took too long trying on clothes so Jay gave him fifty dollars to take the bus home. Manny sweetly wished Jay good luck before he got on the bus. Jay felt bad and got in the car and drove alongside the bus and yelled at Manny to sing. He told him he needed to get over stage fright because he really could sing.  Manny started to sing and after a few lines he was really into it. Stage fright be gone!

Mitchell and Cam are getting ready for the Oscars by doing a photo shoot with Lily dressed up as different Hollywood stars. Lily looked adorable but got bored with it after 6 hours. Mitchell had baby Joe (since Gloria fell and twisted her ankle while looking for a feather boa for him, he offered to babysit) and Cam decided Joe could be the next model. Lily is assisting and doing a great job until they tried to remove the wig.  Lily glued it to his head and it was stuck! They tried everything to get it off but had no luck, so they had to cut his hair. Now they have to face the wrath of Gloria!

MODERN FAMILY - "Bad Hair Day"At the reunion, Claire was having a blast and she bumped into her old classmate Tater (David Faustino) and the hot professor she used to date (Guest star Maxwell Caulfield). Looking at Professor Cooke we get another idea why she didn’t want Phil to come with her. She is shocked when Phil shows up. Jay kicked him off of the bowling team because he found a better player, so Phil came to the reunion to surprise her. Once he finds out that her ex-boyfriend is there, he assumes it is Tater.  Phil chats up Tater and claims his woman while Claire is talking (and mildly flirting) with Professor Cooke.  Once Phil realizes that the Handsome Professor was her ex, he got a little intimidated.  He said “I’ve regretted throwing away things way more beaten up than Claire, so if this Campus Casa Nova had thoughts of reclaiming her, guess what hot-shot, I still own her.” Hilarious! Claire was curious to see what might have been between them but that was shut down quick when his wife shows up to a cocktail party with a laundry basket and an attitude. She was a hot mess and Claire was reminded how lucky she was to have Phil.

At the Pritchett’s, Cam and Mitchell go back and forth as to who will break the news to Gloria about Joe’s hair. They both chicken out so Cam tells Manny that he can have the solo at school if he tells Gloria he did it. This started a chain from Manny to Luke to Jay. After Luke threatened to tell the bowling league that Jay had a professional player on his team, Jay was the lucky one to tell Gloria he cut Joe’s hair. When they took off his hat she gasped (along with everyone else) but she didn’t get all crazy like they thought she would. She was just glad he told the truth (if she only knew).

After seeing his Dad fall in his new bowling shoes, Luke gets the video camera out and asks Haley and Alex to dance for him in Phil’s shoes (hoping they will fall on their faces like Phil did).  They both walk around and dance just fine in the shoes without slipping. Luke didn’t understand why they didn’t fall so he put on the shoes and fell immediately. Hilarious! That’s what he gets for trying to set up the Dunphy girls.
