COMMUNITY: History 101

By  |

So it feels like I’ve been away from Greendale far too long. Like I took a semester off school and just sat around my house doing nothing (well almost nothing) and now that Community is back, I feel like my world is complete and I can feel good about leaving my room for a few hours every day.

Though, I suppose if I’m watching this now, I haven’t really left my house too much.

Whatever, I’ll get to this recap now.

Just hearing Troy and Abed sing has put me in a good mood, even if it’s currently freezing (or near freezing for me) in most of the US right now. Summer’s a very distant memory.

Troy trying out the hipster look is hilarious, and then watching Britta, Annie and Shirley all join in the on the look makes it less hip. But also this scene doesn’t have Piece, but Fred Willard as a Piece-replacement is something I didn’t expect (though maybe I should have given what’s going to come later this season).

All of that is actually Abed’s happy place, and that makes it better. But hearing the “last first day of school” seems to have sent Abed into a spiral downward into a very meta place where he has his own show. Creepy?

The History of Ice Cream is overbooked and Jeff managed to get seats for the group early. That’s so generous of him. But then his good mood is potentially spoiled by Troy and Britta still being a couple. Of course, this overbooking means that the Dean can put on a show and start “The Hunger Dean”, with thirty-five contests to get into the class.

Shocker! Jeff took classes over the summer and needs this History class to graduate early. Annie and Jeff are having some tete-a-tete, and it looks like there’s trouble in paradise. That means that Abed’s going back to his happy place where the Dean lost all the groups student records, as they were on an MS Paint file, resulting in the group repeating the last three years.

Abed wants to stay forever. I hate to break it to him, but you need to leave college someday. Just to keep up with those friends later over social media. Just like the rest of us, right?

Jeff’s got one ball and Abed’s back into his happy place trying to be better.

Annie and Shirley’s prank was only to break into the Dean’s office, but now Annie can’t figure out a good prank. But the fact that Annie figured out well the Dean puts his keys is scary. They might be the same person at this point.

Troy and Britta are having some issues with these wishes in the fountain and this fight is not at all what I expected from them as a couple.

As Jeff’s goals are more and more obvious, Annie has more a question of conscious about her future as a hospital administrator.

The last challenge is a tango and Jeff chooses Dean Pelton, just to prove how much he wants it.

Abed’s happy place is very strange place, I don’t want to be there more, but now that I’m back to the scene between Jeff and the Dean, I’m even more scared. The Dean cancelled the History class that Jeff wanted just to keep Jeff around. That’s either a sexual harassment suit in the works, or the Dean’s just not scared of consequences.

Wait, so in Abed’s happy place, that Abed’s happy place is a cartoon of Greendale Babies. I’m a child of the late 1980s and early 1990s, but I don’t need to relive the Muppet Babies that badly.

It turns out that Britta’s idea was actually the worst and that being inside Abed’s mind is horrible all around. At least Troy realized that. But in the baby world, Jeff has one another speech of wisdom about how no one is really going to anywhere–they’ll all follow each other on twitter, tumblr, instragram or Facebook. Maybe all of them at the same time.

The Dean comes to Jeff’s apartment to tell him that there’s another History class for Jeff and the gang to take, and also to point out that he’s now Jeff’s next door neighbor.

What the hell is Changnesia? Oh that’s horrible!

Why are Troy and Abed cross-dressing to get into a class and Britta gets blocked? Oh right, that’s because the Dean’s around and he likes Troy and Abed’s dresses. That makes it all better.
