THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: After School Special

After a winter break, we start off the New Year with a memorial for Carol Lockwood at the high school. The whole town is there and it gets to be too much for Tyler so he leaves. After saying many kind words about Mayor Lockwood, Sheriff Forbes names Rudy Hopkins (Bonnie’s Dad) as an interim mayor. Elena thought she saw Rebekah and left to find her but she found April in the hallway crying. April told her she knew Elena was a Vampire and Rebekah came up behind Elena and snapped her neck. Welcome Back to Mystic falls folks!

Elena wakes up in the library and Rebekah has April by her side and won’t let Elena leave. Rebekah calls Stefan and tells him that she is holding Elena hostage at the school. Stefan calls Caroline and asks if she wants to help drive a stake through Rebekah’s heart and of course she is all for it.

Jeremy is working out with Matt and looks super hot! Damon is being a hard on them but only to help Jeremy tap into his hunter skills

Stefan and Caroline go to the school to find Rebekah but she was smarter than them and they ended up in the library with Elena. Rebekah compelled them all to answer her questions honestly. Things got a little uncomfortable when Stefan admitted they broke up because Elena slept with Damon and told Rebekah she was sired to him. Elena said she slept with Damon because she was in love with him, not because of the sire bond. Finally Stefan gave her the information she wanted, that professor Shane will know where the cure is.

Bonnie is venting to the shady professor about her Father’s sudden interest in protecting her. She asks for a spell and he tells her that she doesn’t need his help anymore. He gave her a necklace made of human bone as her “graduation” gift and said her magic is where it needs to be. As she left and Kol (original vampire) was going in his office. By the time she realized who it was, his office was messed up and they were gone.

Rebekah calls Tyler and tells him that he should come to the school because she has Caroline. Poor Tyler, he is having a tough time. Kol shows up to the library and has Professor Shane with him.

Klaus showed up to the cabin to check on Jeremy’s vampire kills. He wants Damon to speed up the process and offers his help. Damon decides to show Jeremy how to shoot and shot Klaus a few times just for fun. After he recovered he told Damon he made some necessary steps to speed up the process. He turned some humans into vampires for Jeremy to kill. First up, the nice pizza delivery girl.

Over at the school Kol and Rebekah try to compel Shane and it won’t work thanks to a trick he learned in Tibet.  Rebekah tells Kol to beat him until he tells them where to find the cure. She decides to have a little fun by playing truth or dare while Kol does her dirty work. She dared Elena to tell Stefan the truth about Damon. She says being with Damon makes her feel happy and free, and lately being with Stefan made her feel like a project that needed to be fixed. Ouch. She still loves Stefan but isn’t in love with him. Tyler gets there just in time to break the tension. Rebekah compels him and tells him to turn. She has no more use for them and knows he will kill them if he turns. Tyler does his best to fight turning but it doesn’t work. He goes all wolf on them and all they can do is get out of the way.

April tells Bonnie about where Shane is and that she knows Bonnie is a witch. She immediately does a protection spell for Shane. The only problem was it linked to April. They were drowning Shane but April couldn’t breathe and started spitting out water. Kol stabbed him, but April started bleeding.

Shane played dead and April was dying. The protection spell worked for Shane. Stefan gave April some of his blood to heal her and told her and Bonnie to leave, which left Stefan and Elena alone. Awkward! Stefan asked Elena how many more times can she rip out his heart. Ouch. She apologized and said she was sorry and never meant to hurt him. Rebekah offers to compel Stefan to forget everything about Elena. He tells her to do it, but she decides that a lifetime of pain would be his punishment.

Caroline found Tyler on the gym floor and he felt like everything was his fault. He should have saved his mom. He broke down crying and it was so sad to see him hurting like that.

Elena called Damon and told him that Stefan knows about them.  She told him that she realized that she loves him and it isn’t the sire bond. He told her to get in the car and come to him.

Stefan invited Rebekah over and told her that Shane is not dead. Stefan wants to partner with her since they both hate their brothers and have nothing to lose. They can search for the cure together and decide what happens to it once it is found.

April tells Sheriff Forbes and the new mayor that professor Shane was behind the deaths of her father and the council members. She said it was time for people in Mystic Falls to start telling the truth.

Jeremy, Matt and Damon show up to a bar where Klaus has killed everyone there, well they were in transition and it was Jeremy’s job to kill them. Jeremy thought Damon convinced Klaus to do this another way, but Damon agreed that Klaus’ way was a better. Jeremy has a big job ahead. Wow!
