NICE BOY OF THE WEEK: Victor Garber
Our Nice Boy this week is Victor Garber. If you haven’t heard of Victor Garber is you might want to sit down and do a little evaluating because the man has been in everything from Broadway to TV to movies.
I’ll give you a few career facts before I get too carried away telling you how awesome he is: he moved to Toronto at the age of 16 to pursue acting, recorded an album in the 70’s for Columbia Records with The Sugar Shoppe a folk rock group as well as getting his start on Broadway as Jesus in the musical Godspell. His career has garnered him multiple Emmy and Tony nominations.
Mainstream fame came for Victor in the form of the ABC show Alias where he played the duplicitous Agent Jack Bristow, a role which put him 29th on IMDB’s 50 best TV Dads of all time. Something I agree with wholeheartedly. In fact every week after Alias aired I would proclaim, “No one is badder than Jack!” Bad grammar aside his protective streak for Sydney endeared him to me and many others.
His part in Alias as Jennifer Garner’s Father carried into a strong off screen friendship as he was the only guest and officiant at Jennifer’s wedding to Ben Affleck. He has also started showing up in Ben’s movies, uncredited in The Town and as the Canadian Ambassador in Argo.
This January will find him back on network TV with NBC’s Deception a show where he will play Robert Bowers the head of a very rich and powerful family who have as many secrets and scandals as they have money.
Deception airs Monday 10/9c on NBC
