DECEPTION Star Katherine LaNasa

Katherine LaNasa’s year has been anything but dull, and thankfully she took a moment to chat with me from the closet of her New York home where she was taking my call so her new husband Grant Show could make a smoothie in the kitchen.

Let’s talk about the movies Katherine has worked on over the last year. For starters The Campaign, where she starred opposite Will Ferrell.  A movie so hilarious I had to see it twice in the theater as I spent most of the first time laughing so much I missed quite a bit. When I asked her how on earth she kept a straight face she replied, “I can’t honestly say I did the takes without laughing.” That was some good editing.”

The Frozen Ground with John Cusack and Nicolas Cage, a drama set in Alaska based on actual events. On working with John, “John is a wonderful, wonderful scene partner. It was effortless working with him.”

Also Jane Mansfield’s Car directed by Billy Bob Thornton and starring Kevin Bacon, Tippi Hedren and Robert Duvall to name a few. Look for this period piece to come out this spring.

On top of all of that she managed to find time to film a recurring guest role on A&E’s drama Longmire and star in NBC’s new drama Deception. A show she fondly likes to call Decevious, as the show went through a few name changes along the way.
Katherine plays Sophia Bowers the second wife of Robert Bowers played by Victor Garber. Rounding out the cast are Tate Donovan, Wes Brown, Laz Alonso and Meagan Good.
The show, set and filmed in New York, centers on the glamorous and dark Bowers family. They are exceedingly rich and powerful with secrets they wish to keep buried. Among those secrets are the circumstances surrounding the death of Robert’s daughter Vivian. While Vivian’s death is ruled a suicide not everyone is so sure which brings Meagan Good’s character back to town to do some undercover digging.

When I asked if there was any chance of seeing her husband Grant making an appearance on Deception she said there was a part as Sophia’s ex-lover that would have been perfect but at the time he was filming in Atlanta .  Hopefully in the future there will be another part that will be a good fit for him.

Because we are NiceGirls I also had to ask about Katherine’s wardrobe as Sophia. Sophia Bowers has some fantastic clothing and that is thanks to costume designer Amy Roth. “I should start tweeting more about my wardrobe. The clothes are amazing. It’s a Fendi suit I’m wearing in the pilot. The clothes are gorgeous.”
