THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: The Killer Recap

We begin with Connor talking to Professor Shane and we find out that Shane promised to tell Connor about his Hunter’s mark once it was complete, and that is why he sent Connor to Mystic Falls. Shane asked Connor not to hurt Bonnie because she was important to his plan, but Connor said if anyone gets in his way they are going down.  Connor headed over to The Grill with werewolf venom (that he extracted from the hybrid he killed) as well as his hunter weapons.

Klaus called Stefan to tell him that Connor got away and had werewolf venom. Now Stefan has to make sure Connor stays alive, which will be tough because Damon wants to kill him. He wanted to tell Damon about the cure but Klaus was against it. He told Stefan if he tells anyone about the cure, he will throw the sword into the Mediterranean and Elena will stay a vamp forever.

Over at the Grill, Connor is taking hostages. He is on the hunt to kill some vamps and he knows they will come so he took Jeremy, April and Matt. He sent a text (from Jeremy’s phone) to Stefan, Damon, and Tyler to let them know he had hostages and they would die at sundown if they didn’t do something.

Stefan met up with Damon, Tyler and Caroline to strategize. They all had their ideas but Stefan shut it down and told them they all would not go. They needed to figure out what they were getting into since Connor is known for his traps and having werewolf venom.

Bonnie met with Professor Shane to help her practice magic again. His solution was hypnosis. He said it would help her confront her fear and guilt of practicing magic again and get rid of it.

Damon found Alaric’s map of the underground tunnels and it showed an entrance to the Grill. Elena wanted to offer herself as a trade for the hostages (since Connor doesn’t know she is a vampire) but Damon didn’t think she was ready to go up against a trained vampire hunter. He tried to prove his point by a fake fight which ended up with her straddling him on the bed (nice moment for Delena fans).  Elena said that Jeremy was the only thing holding her together and they had to get him out. Damon promised her they would.

Stefan referred to Klaus while talking about his plan and Damon became suspicious. He wondered if Klaus compelled him and demanded that Stefan tell him the truth. Stefan had no choice but to vervain Damon. He could not take the chance of Damon killing Connor. Stefan told Elena that he was worried Damon would get Jeremy out and kill Connor without rescuing Matt and April. Elena wanted to go with Stefan, but he told her she wouldn’t be able to handle the guilt if she killed Connor. He asked her to trust him because this was the most important thing he’s ever asked her to do. She agreed and they kissed.

At the Lockwood Mansion, Caroline met Hayley and was not happy when she found out she had been staying with Tyler for a few days. Tyler tried to convince Dean (a fellow Hybrid) that he didn’t have to follow Klaus’ orders. To prove his point Tyler called Klaus and he threatened to tell Caroline he hooked up with Hayley in Appalachia, so Tyler backed off.

Dean carefully entered The Grill looking out for traps. He stepped on a mat and Boom! Connor’s homemade bomb of nails soaked in Werewolf venom went off. Dean was covered in nails and Connor shot him in the chest and he died. While Connor was distracted with Dean, Stefan snuck in and gave Matt and April his phone with the map to get out of the tunnels and told them to go to Caroline’s.

 Elena heard about the explosion at The Grill and couldn’t get through to anyone to find out what happened. Damon woke up and she wanted him to go to the Grill to see what was going on, but Stefan took his day ring, so he couldn’t. Elena decided to go and Damon told her to use the fact that Connor doesn’t know she’s a vampire to get close to him and then go for the kill.

Over at the Grill, Connor threatened to shoot Jeremy if Stefan didn’t come out. Stefan offered to trade information about The Five if he let Jeremy go, but Connor wasn’t going for it. Elena rushed in and begged Connor to let Jeremy go. Connor said he’d shoot Jeremy in front of her if Stefan didn’t show himself. Stefan gave himself up and Elena tackled Connor. His gun fired and shot Jeremy in the stomach. Stefan got to Jeremy just before another bomb went off. Elena and Connor fought and Stefan grabbed Connor off of her and took him away. Elena gave Jeremy her blood to save him.

Stefan took Connor through the tunnels and they ran into Damon. Damon was determined to kill Connor so Stefan let him go. Damon was angry and demanded to know why Stefan was protecting Connor. He grabbed his heart and basically forced it out of Stefan before he let him go. Damon was shocked to hear about the cure.

Elena found Connor in the tunnels, and she bit his neck. She told him to stay away from her brother and he tried to stake her but missed. So she snapped his neck and it was over. She had no idea that she killed her chances of being human again along with Connor. Stefan and Damon found Elena crying while digging a grave for Connor. She was overwhelmed because she killed someone.

Back at Tyler’s, Caroline saw Tyler comforting Hayley over Dean’s death and she got pissed. Tyler explained to Caroline he wanted Klaus to think he had a thing for Hayley because if he knew the truth he would kill them all. The truth: Hayley helped him break his sire bond and they want to help other hybrids do the same, but there is nothing romantic between them.  

After Matt and Jeremy gave April a vervain soaked bracelet, Jeremy looked at his hand and he was marked. The hunters tattoo was on his hand! OMG!

At casa de Salvatore, Elena wanted to be left alone. Damon and Stefan agreed not to tell Elena that she killed her chance at becoming human again (assuming that there really was a cure). Stefan just hopes that Klaus won’t kill him because of Connor and Dean’s deaths. His new plan is to search for another hunter. Damon was on board but wanted to know if Stefan wanted to cure Elena because she’s a vampire and doesn’t want to be, or because he can’t love her if she’s a vampire. Stefan said he’ll always love her but she’s not supposed to be a vampire. Damon said he was fine with her either way, so if he does it, he is doing it for Stefan. Aw! Nothing like brotherly love.

Elena wrote in her journal about how the worst feeling is when you lose yourself. She started seeing drops of blood that led into her bathroom and it looked like a crime scene. Blood was everywhere and “killer” was written on her mirror. She was totally losing it, but why?  We will find out next week!
