MODERN FAMILY: Arrested Recap

Ah college. Where the kids party, drink and get arrested. Well college wasn’t exactly like that for most of us (maybe it was, I’ll never tell), but only six weeks in and that was Haley’s life. She got arrested for underage drinking, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. Woops! Claire, Phil and Mitchell (you know because an environmental Lawyer always comes in handy) head up to the school to bail her out.

While they go bail out Haley, Cam takes Lily and babysits Luke and Alex. The kids get up for breakfast and Cam has breakfast on the table. Since he has been on a health kick lately, he made “Fakon” which is soy bacon. Luke loves it and told him it was delicious. There was only one problem, Luke is allergic to soy. Off to the emergency room they go.

DeDe Pritchett (Mitchell & Claire’s mother played by guest star Shelley Long) wants to stop by Jay’s house to pick up a photo album. Jay wanted to keep Gloria’s pregnancy a secret from DeDe because of their violent history (if you remember they had to carry Dede out of Gloria & Jay’s wedding). Dede comes over and Jay tried to get her to leave before Gloria got home, but he was unsuccessful. Dede took one look at Gloria’s belly and started laughing. She thought it was hilarious that he was having a baby at his age and then the unthinkable happened. Gloria and Dede got along. Seeing Gloria pregnant made her more human and less “trophy wife” to Dede. Dede felt the baby kick and she shared stories about Jay and how he didn’t help her change diapers or clean the house. Gloria said she understood why DeDe went crazy. Gloria warned Jay that he better help her or she will go nuts just like Dede did. Jay promises that he is in a better place financially now and he will be there for her.

Over at the hospital Luke is able to breathe now but he has his robe on backwards. When Cam told him the opening goes to the back he said he didn’t want anyone looking at his butt. So funny! Alex decides to get some education at the hospital (since she is missing biology), but when she witnesses a C-section she passed out. She realized she did not want to be a doctor or have a baby anytime soon.

They bail Haley out of jail and find out they have to attend a hearing at the school to see if they will let her stay or not. At the school board hearing, she takes responsibility for her actions and also confesses other mistakes she’s made, one of them being she cheated her way into the school. Phil stops her from saying anything further. When asked if there was anything else she would like to add on her behalf, she replied “Go Wildcats!” This would have been cool if the Wildcats were their mascot, but they are not. Needless to say she was kicked out of school but can re-apply next year.

At the Dunphys, Haley is not of fan of what Alex has done with her room, especially her molecule balloons which Haley referred to as “nerdy balls.” They start going back and forth about the room and it is just like Haley never left. What would Modern Family be without a few sibling spats?
