REVENGE Recap: Forgiveness

By  |

Emily awakens on the sofa with Aiden, having been there all night. They talk about her mother. Aiden tells her that like her father, he was just protecting her. Emily doesn’t want him to get the wrong idea about her moment of vulnerability the night before. She needed someone, he walked through the door. She’s over it now.

Victoria is pruning plants when an uninvited visitor shows up…Kara. As Kara moves in for a hug, the expression on Victoria’s face suggests she’s thinking up new ways to use the pruning shears. They sit and talk about Gordon, wondering where he might be. Kara seems to be fishing, measuring every word, and Victoria seems to be noticing. Victoria changes the subject to Amanda in an effort to be less uncomfortable. In the spirit of the old adage “keep your friends close and enemies closer,” Victoria invites Kara to stay at Grayson manor. This hospitality pays off for her later when she finds a phone in Kara’s room, and proof that Kara and Gordon had been in contact. She and Conrad work on their new plan, get married again so that they can’t be forced to testify against each other.

Aiden visits with Daniel, playing his role as Takeda’s proxy. Conrad had dumped him on Daniel when a frantic Victoria phoned with news of their new houseguest. Ashley interrupts the meeting with news that someone has been inquiring about David’s employment contract with Grayson. Aiden is more interested in this news than he was in Takeda’s business. He wastes no time in warning Emily.

Declan also has a visitor, Charlotte. She invites him to visit the hospital with her, and he blows her off. He then has a second visitor, the wolf in sheep’s clothing that he “robbed.” He wants to help, or so he says, and gives Declan a number to call to obtain cheap help that can get the needed work done at the bar. Declan just keeps making one bad decision after another. He passes the number to Jack, who foolishly walks right into it. The guy later returns and offers to do Jack a favor, take the bar off his hands. Interestingly, both Jack and Declan remain totally oblivious at how easily they have been played.

Nolan stops in to see how Amanda and the baby are doing, and is concerned to hear that Amanda’s mother has been there. He heads straight to Emily with the news, and seems more than a tad disappointed that she already knew and didn’t tell him. She hasn’t responded to his messages either, his dad may not have been the major criminal hers was, but he’s died and Nolan is looking for a little support. They turn on the Grayson security camera feed and sit down for a few minutes of quality BFF time together. When Jack calls Emily with news that Amanda is awake, though, she ditches her sidekick once again. With Kara hanging around, Amanda still may be in danger, so Emily is sticking close.

Amanda meets her infant son, Carl.  He cries a lot, he’s definitely related to Declan. Emily watches the happy family from the doorway, remembering her father telling her that her mother was gone.  Emily invites Amanda and baby to stay with her, since the bar is still a mess,  at least that’s the excuse she uses. Kara arrives at the hospital while Amanda is out having tests, followed closely by Mason Treadwell. He recognizes Kara’s name right away, and although he has brought flowers for the injured Amanda, he looks like he just received the greatest present ever. Mason tells Kara that he returned to learn the truth about Amanda’s acceptance into the Grayson family. He has many questions for Kara as well, but she’s off the hook for now when Amanda returns and needs help getting back into her bed. Emily lets Mason know it’s time for him to leave, and soon after convinces Kara that they should leave Amanda alone. She offers her a ride home, and they discuss David on the drive.

Daniel wants to talk to the person who is interested in David’s contract. It’s Padma, Nolan’s new CFO and sweetheart. She gives a fake story about her reasons, but Daniel knows it’s a lie. He doesn’t let on, but she has inadvertently tipped him off to what her real concern might be. Aiden helps Daniel connect the dots. If David was under contract with Grayson when he provided Nolan capital to start his company, then legally Grayson may be the majority holder of the company. Aiden reports the information to Emily, but she’s not interested…she got rid of her stock years ago, there is nothing to connect her to Nolan’s company. She is worried what this might mean for Nolan, though. Aiden makes it clear that Nolan is not his concern.

Nolan, meanwhile, is concerned to find David’s cancelled check on Padma’s desk. When she assures him she hasn’t done anything with it, he turns his attention to romance, unaware of what she has set in motion. They are in the middle of a romantic meal at the beach when Emily reaches him with the news of Padma’s visit to Grayson.  He hangs up without letting on to Padma that he knows what she’s done.

Amanda and the baby settle in at Emily’s. Amanda is feeling incredibly guilty over Jack not being the baby’s father, and Emily’s conscious gets the better of her. She confesses that she lied, she wanted Amanda to owe her one. Amanda is relieved, but doesn’t hold a grudge against her friend. She went after Jack knowing how Emily felt about him. Later, as Emily and Kara talk on the beach, Mason Treadwell drops in to see Amanda. In the hospital, he noticed a scar she supposedly received in a freak accident as a child is now missing from her back. She gives a cover story, but Treadwell isn’t buying it. He leaves her, but he’s gloating, and she likely hasn’t heard the last from him.
