ARROW: New Drama Gets Full Season Pick-Up

By  |

The new series Arrow has been given a full season pick-up by its home network: The CW. That means the new series, based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, will have a full, 22-episode season.

This pick-up should not come as any surprise, though, given the fact the series debut earned 4 million viewers, becoming the network’s most watched episode in three years and its highest rated drama debut since Nikita in 2010; and Arrow maintained its premiere demographic rating in its second airing, dipping only slightly in total viewers (earning 3.5 million viewers).

The series chronicles the life of billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) who was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his family and best friend welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was; and so, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.

The cast also includes Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland and Susanna Thompson.

Arrow airs on The CW on Wednesday nights at 8/7c with the next new episode set to air on October 24.
