THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Growing Up

After what seemed like forever, I was so excited for the season four premiere of The Vampire Diaries. I have missed Damon and the gang a lot this summer! This was a great way to kick off season four so let’s get to it!

Elena wakes up confused and the Salvatore Boys explain to her that she is in transition. She doesn’t want to be a vampire (no one else wants her to be one either) so they are hoping Bonnie can do a spell so she can be human again. That is a tall order but never under estimate the power of Bonnie Bennett.

Dr. Fell gets a visit from Pastor Young and he has been trusted to secure the town. Evil Alaric tipped them off that blood flies off the shelf at her hospital and he and his council troops are taking over. He told her she better look for a new job.

Mayor Lockwood is handcuffed and the council troops want to question her about Tyler. Sherriff Liz gets cornered by Pastor Young and he took her badge. She warned them that they didn’t know what they were up against. She called Caroline to warn her that they were coming after her, but on her way out she was stabbed in the neck by a vervain filled needle. The council troops are not playing around now that they know the truth.

Elena is trying to deal with her transition. Her emotions are high, her senses are heightened and the taste of food makes her want to throw up. She is starting to remember things that she was compelled to forget. She has a flash of when Damon told her that he loved her. He said because he loves her he can’t be selfish with her. He told her he didn’t deserve her, but Stefan did and then he compelled her. Aww!

Damon pays Rebekkah a visit and tries to stake her. She is then shot and collapses to the ground. The council troops took her and put her in a van with Caroline. Klaus/Tyler got word that Caroline was taken and he rescued Caroline but he left Rebekkah to keep the council busy.

Elena goes downstairs to find Stefan surrounded by council troops with guns. They took Elena to a safe place where vampires couldn’t get to her (not knowing she was in transition). She was really starting to lose it. Every noise is loud to her, and she tries to run away and the sun affects her. She gets knocked out by a council member.

Caroline is so excited to see Tyler alive and she is all ready for some vampire sex until he calls her love. That was a red flag for her and she knew it was Klaus in Tyler’s body.

Bonnie is having problems communicating with the spirits so she came up with another idea. She wants to go to the other side and find Elena’s spirit and bring her back (say what?). Basically that means she would stop her own heart. Jeremy is not ok with this idea, but she goes ahead with it anyway. She does the spell and passes out. She finds Elena locked up in cages with Stefan. She tries to take Elena with her but her Gram shows up and won’t let her. She warns her that the spirits will unleash themselves on her if she practices that type of dark magic. She wakes up and Jeremy is relieved, but they are back to square one and Elena is running out of time.

Klaus/Tyler wants Bonnie to put him back in his body, but she can’t use that type of magic. Not the answer Klaus was looking for, so he starts to rip Tyler’s heart out with his hands, so she agrees to do the dark spell (I have to say Michael Trevino was awesome as Tyler/Klaus, he really sold it).

Elena is in vampire jail with Stefan and Rebekkah. Elena is slowly dying and Stefan apologizes. She told him all she ever wanted him to have was hope, and he did. He told her how much he loved her. She shared with him that she was on the bridge because she was coming back for him. She picked him because she loves him. Rebekkah watches their interaction and looks like she might actually be touched.

Damon and Matt show up to vampire jail and Damon figured all they needed was bait, so he bit Matt. The pastor comes out and Damon offers Matt’s safety in exchange for Stefan and Elena. Pastor Young refuses and then Damon is shot.

Bonnie performs the dark magic spell and it worked for Tyler and Klaus but Gram shows up again and tells her that she warned her. Then Gram died again in front of Bonnie and Bonnie fell to the floor.

Over at vampire jail Rebekkah nodded at Stefan letting him know she was on his side. She tried to bribe the guard and grabbed him and threw him over to Stefan who snapped his neck and let his body fall in front of Elena hoping she would feed and stay alive. She struggled to reach the spilled blood but finally did.

Damon is kicking some council troop butt and he goes over to Matt. Matt tells Damon to kill him because he couldn’t possibly hate him anymore than he hates himself. Damon puts his foot on his throat. Fanged out vamp Elena leaps on Damon and warns him to leave Matt alone. Elena is going to be an awesome vampire.

Elena told Damon that is was her choice to save Matt and he should respect that. She then admitted that she remembered everything that he compelled her to forget including how they met first.  She told him if he was on the bridge and she begged him to save Matt, he interrupted her and said he would have saved her and let Matt die. He is that selfish because he wanted Elena to have the life she deserved. Then he said that meeting him first wasn’t the only thing she remembered and he walked away.

Elena sat with Stefan on the roof and they know that everything will change now that the council members know the truth. Elena tells them they will have to take it one day at a time together, and they will be together forever. Stefan gave her a daylight ring that Bonnie made for her just in case (I told you not to under estimate the power of Bonnie Bennett). They kissed and watched the sun rise.

Pastor Young and his troops were in the house and he told them he knows the vampires would retaliate against them but he would lead them in a movement. He turned on the gas and flicked his lighter and boom! The house blew up before anyone knew what hit them.
