Synopsis: September 17, 1864. New York City is still recovering from the Draft Riots of 1863. The neighbourhood of Five Points is the worst slum in the country. Detective Kevin Corcoran of the New York City Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth Precinct finds himself investigating the murder of a young Five Points girl that hits uncomfortably close to home. With the help of Detectives Francis Maguire and Andrew O’Brien, as well as Doctor Matthew Freeman, Corcoran must navigate the slums of Five Points and the mansions of Uptown as he relentlessly searches for the child’s killer. With assistance from prostitutes at Eva’s Paradise and using his relationship with the highly-connected Morehouse family, Corcoran faces shocking twists and turns in his quest for justice for an innocent child. As Corcoran investigates the child’s murder, he is reminded of his own loss: after his tenure as a Union Soldier in the Civil War, Corcoran returned to an empty home. Four months prior, his daughter died and his wife disappeared. Corcoran will not rest until he finds his missing wife and uncovers the reasons behind his daughter’s mysterious death.
