You Should Check Out the Ladies on WIGS on YouTube
The latest channel on You Tube called WIGS, which debuted back in May of this year, comes from filmmakers Jon Avnet (Black Swan, Fried Green Tomatoes and Risky Business) and Rodrigo Garcia (Albert Nobbs and In Treatment).
What is so special about WIGS is that it’s an innovative online series of short films, scripted series and documentaries starring all female leads. According to their official page on You Tube, “WIGS will take you on an unpredictable, often outrageous journey into the lives, loves and lies of the characters. Wigs. Where it gets interesting”.
The first series from WIGS is called “Jan” and stars Caitlin Gerard (The Social Network and Magic Mike) as an assistant to renowned photographer Mel Karpova (Virginia Madsen from Sideways) who is shooting movie star Gerald Noth (Stephen Moyer from True Blood) and his girlfriend Andie (Jaime Murray from Warehouse 13). Unfortunately, Jan makes one blunder after another until she’s convinced her first day will be her last.
Jan consists of 15 short episodes that co-stars Kyle Gallner (Veronica Mars and the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Laura Spencer (The Lizzie Bennet Diaries).
You can check out the first episode of “Jan” right here.
The first short film is called “Serena” and stars Jennifer Garner (Alias and 13 Going on 30) and Alfred Molina in a story about a woman named Serena who is in love with her priest.

The second web series, that consists of 12 episodes, is called “Blue” and stars Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You and the Bourne franchise), who is a mom, daughter, friend, accountant and…an escort. Uriah Shelton (The Glades) plays her son Josh while David Harbour (The Green Hornet), Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) and Kathleen Quinlan (Prison Break) co-star.

The second short film is called “Denise” and stars Alison Pill (The Newsroom) and Chris Messina (Julie & Julia and Damages). This short follows a girl named Denise, who helps a guy named Brad untangle his web of lies. You can check out the short film “Denise” here.
The next short film is called “Allison” and stars Marin Ireland (Homeland and Mildred Pierce) and Joel Johnstone in a story about what happens when you go 90% of the way. You can check out the short film “Allison” here.
The third web series stars Jena Malone (Hatfields & McCoys) as “Dakota”, a poker player on a short losing streak who is invited to a high stakes home game, but the stakes for her son are what matter most. This web series includes three episodes and co-stars David Heckel, Jason O’Mara (Terra Nova), Zak Penn (Alphas) and newcomers Emmett Heckel and Heather Thompson [among others].

The latest web series is called “Christina” and stars America Ferrera (of Ugly Betty fame) and focuses on a young woman trying a little too hard to find Mr. Right on a nutty evening of speed dating.
