Television Crossovers That I Would Love to See Happen

By  |

There was a point in time on television when characters from various shows would do crossover visits with shows on their home network and, more specifically, shows that aired on the same night.

Back when there was still programming on Saturday nights, CBS once aired a crossover of a hurricane hitting the shows Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Early Edition and Walker, Texas Ranger. And over on NBC, Jared (actor Michael T. Weiss) from The Pretender crossed over onto Profiler and Rachel Burke (actress Jamie Luner) paid a visit from Profiler to The Pretender. More recently, Claudia (actress Allison Scagliotti) appeared on Eureka from Warehouse 13 while Fargo (actor Neil Grayston) got to see inside Warehouse 13 from the town of Eureka.

But what would happen if current shows paid a visit to other shows on their home network or, gasp! on another network? The thought of unique crossovers has been going through my mind quite often; especially since I attended Comic Con earlier this month; and the following are just some of the fun crossovers I would love to see:

Annie and Auggie on Covert Affairs

1. Burn Notice and Covert Affairs (both on USA Network) – What if the spy worlds of Burn Notice and Covert Affairs collided either in the heart of Miami where Burn Notice is based, in the heart of DC where Covert Affairs is typically set-up or perhaps they all end up on an interagency mission together that takes them abroad. Couldn’t you just see Sam going toe-to-toe with Auggie or Annie and Fiona actually bonding.

Jane from Drop Dead Diva

2. Drop Dead Diva (on Lifetime) and Bunheads (on ABC Family) – Since both shows are set in California, what would happen if Jane Bingham were called on by Fanny or Michelle to deal with a legal issue in the tiny little town of Paradise? Couldn’t you just see the quirkiness of both shows blending to make for an even more hilarious storyline?

Neal and Peter on White Collar

3. White Collar and Suits (both on USA Network) – Here is a pairing that TV viewers should easily be able to imagine since both are set in New York City. What if there were a case that lands on Peter’s desk that calls for Neal to work with Harvey and/or Mike from Pearson and Hardman. Wouldn’t it be something to see Neal using his con-man talents alongside the never-ending intellect of Mike?

Wes and Travis from Common Law

4. The Closer (on TNT) and Common Law (on USA Network) – These two shows may be an odd pairing, but they are both based around LA police departments; and it would just be so funny to see the antics between Wes and Travis alongside Brenda Leigh and the rest of the major crimes division. To say the least, it would be a very unusual hour.

The Boys of Teen Wolf

5. Supernatural (on The CW) and Teen Wolf (on MTV) – What would happen if the best-looking brothers on television, who just happen to be hunters of monsters, ghouls and ghosts, end up at Beacon Hills High School because of reports of werewolves and the Kanima? Can you imagine the showdown between the Winchester brothers and Scott, Derek and the rest of the wolf pack? Or what would happen when the Sargeant hunter family ends up in the same space as the Winchesters? Which hunter family would prevail?

None of these crossovers may ever happen or perhaps a few will – at least there is always the chance of the USA Network shows crossing over – but it sure would be fun to see some of the above actually happen, wouldn’t it?

How about you? Do you have some favorite shows for which you’d like to see characters make a crossover visit? Please share what you would like to see in our comments section below.
