SMASH Casting News: Theatre Vet Andy Mientus to Join Series

By  |

The casting news just keeps coming in for NBC’s musical drama Smash. News broke this morning that theatre vet Andy Mientus (pictured left) will join the season two cast as a series regular. He will play Kyle, a poor kid from Brooklyn with dreams of writing for Broadway. [Look out Tom and Julia, right?]

Kyle also happens to be best friends with Jimmy, the other new arrival to the show, to be played by Tony-nominated actor Jeremy Jordan (Newsies).

Mientus is a newcomer to TV audiences, but he has appeared as Hansche in the US tour of Spring Awakening and in the Off-Broadway revival of the Stephen King-inspired Carrie.

Smash is expected to be back on NBC sometime in the spring of 2013. [Source: TV Line]
