SMASH Casting News: Jennifer Hudson to Appear in Second Season

By  |

I know there are fans of the NBC musical series Smash out there, right? And, how many of you are fans (for better or worse) of American Idol?

Well, if you answered yes to either or both of those questions, then you just might be excited to learn that former American Idol finalist and Oscar winning actress Jennifer Hudson will be joining the second season of Smash for a multi-episode run as Veronica Moore, who is a Tony Award-winning Broadway star who impacts the lives of Karen (fellow American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee) and Ivy (Megan Hilty).

Smash does not have an official place on the 2012-2013 fall TV schedule, but it is expected to be back on NBC around mid-season, which translates to sometime in the Spring of 2013. [Source: Deadline]
