DALLAS: The Price You Pay
We begin with JR and John Ross in a man spa getting shaved and relaxed. John Ross has a towel over his eyes and JR gets up and takes the razor blade and starts shaving John Ross’s cheek. He says to John Ross “I loved my Daddy, I respected my Daddy,” then he snatched the towel off of his eyes and held the razor to his throat and said “but most of all, I feared my Daddy!” He told John Ross that he knew “Marta” was not the real Marta Del Sol and asked if he thought he could get one over on JR. John Ross admitted that he planned on cutting him out of the deal. JR understood why he attempted to pull one over on him since he wasn’t the best father, and asked John Ross if he could trust him this time. He promised not to let John Ross down and they shook hands and hugged (Umm Hmmm…I don’t trust JR for a second, we shall see).
Ann is trying to teach an uneasy Rebecca how to shoot a rifle before rushing off to go to Bobby’s doctor appointment. Tommy (Rebecca’s brother) compliments her on what a good daughter-in-law she is. He asks her about Chris and his work, but she is hesitant to answer. He informs her that he has a program for her to install on Chris’s computer that will give him access to it and have complete control over his computer (I don’t know what these two are up to but it is no good). She takes the file from him, but it is obvious she is having second thoughts about whatever their plan is.
John Ross introduces JR to the real backers of the takeover of Southfork and they have a little showdown. JR wanted to make sure that they were on the same page, and any confusion they had he straightened out by saying “The best way to understand a man is to talk to his friends and his enemies. My friends are in the state house, now my enemies are gonna be harder to find.” Wow! JR is not a man to piss off.
Bobby and Ann are at the doctor’s office and they find out that his tumor was completely removed but it was larger than they originally thought. Because of the size, he has a higher risk of more tumors forming. There are treatments but there are also side effects. Bobby wants to start the medicine right away and feels good about it, despite Ann’s concerns.
John Ross confronts Mitch (the lawyer) and lets him know that his father knows everything and he better not tell Bobby about the real Southfork plan. Mitch informs John Ross that there is a problem. Bobby decided he is not selling Southfork anymore (Uh oh).
Bobby gets a call from JR’s doctor suggesting that JR move back to Southfork. He told Bobby that his visits have helped a lot, but sometimes moving back to the family home is a good thing for people suffering from depression. Bobby agrees to think about it, but he has his reservations. Ann ignores him and makes up the guest room.
JR and John Ross are with the doctor thanking him for his great performance. It was John Ross’ idea to have him call to get JR back at Southfork to keep an eye on things (he is just like his Daddy).
Elena and Chris are going over gas and methane hydrate notes and Chris realizes that liquid carbon dioxide is the missing piece to their puzzle. The hug and it is obvious that there are still feelings between these two. She gets a call from Rebecca and decides to have lunch with her (awkward).
John Ross takes JR back to Southfork for his homecoming a little earlier than Bobby expected. He is meeting with Cliff Barnes (Bobby’s former brother-in-law play by Ken Kerchavel) and the greeting between him and JR was icy to say the least. Cliff was sniffing around trying to get Bobby to sell him Southfork but Bobby turned him down. JR does not like the idea of Cliff being anywhere around.
Rebecca and Elena are at lunch and Rebecca admits that Elena intimidates her because she is smart, beautiful, and was engaged to Chris once. Elena tells her she shouldn’t worry, and Rebecca told her she wanted to be her friend. Elena accepted her offer and filled her in about Chris’s childhood. She told her that once Chris found out that he was adopted, he felt like he had to prove himself because Ewing’s don’t fail.
After lunch, Rebecca comes home to find Chris almost blowing up the kitchen with his experiment. The doorbell rings and a man tells Chris that Cliff Barnes (his uncle on his mother’s side) would like him and his wife to join him for dinner and a car is waiting for them outside (this Cliff guy does not give up). They go to meet him at a hotel and Chris knows that he is up to something. Cliff claims the bad blood between him and the Ewing family is old news (I totally do not believe him). He tells Chris that he wants to invest 1 million dollars in his methane hydrate business. Chris tells him that he can’t accept his offer because he knows that his true intentions are to screw over his family.
Ann (who I think I might start referring to as quick draw McGraw) grabbed her gun when she heard a noise. It was just JR in the study revisiting his past (and looking for evidence). He continues to play the “nice JR” role when he suggests that Bobby was right to sell Southfork because it caused a lot of family problems.
JR gives a book of his mother’s secrets to John Ross and tells him he is going to have to use it as ammo against his Uncle Bobby to get the Southfork sale moving. He told John Ross something he learned from his Daddy, “Nobody gives you power. Real power is something you take” (I swear, JR has the best quotes).
Rebecca is sleeping and gets a call from Tommy wondering why he doesn’t have access to Chris’ computer yet. She told him that she hasn’t had to opportunity to install it because he takes his computer with him everywhere. He told her to stop the excuses and get it done. After she hangs up we see that she was lying because his computer was on the table and he was at work with Elena.
Over at Southfork, JR surprises Ann and Bobby by cooking breakfast. John Ross shows up and tells Bobby they need to talk. He hands his grandmother’s journal to Bobby and JR accuses him of stealing it out of his room. John Ross brings up how his Grandmother spent some time in a mental institution. Bobby shuts him down by saying nothing in that journal will overturn her will. John Ross says it will get him his day in court and threatens to reveal every intimate detail of that journal if that day in court ever comes (woo he is so bad, I love it!). JR stands up to him playing the good brother role so well. John Ross tells him “You had your chance to claim Southfork. I’m not going to fail like you did” and JR slaps him! Oh the drama (it is not a good episode of Dallas if no one gets slapped)! He gives Bobby 24 hours to contact him or he will file the papers to get the will overturned.
Chris and Elena are at work and his project was finally successful. He left to go tell his dad and found that he signed the papers to sell Southfork. He disagrees with him selling Southfork. Bobby told him to sit down and he breaks the news to him that he has cancer. He explains that he didn’t want to burden him. Chris was upset because he didn’t want to be shut out of his life. He wanted to take care of his father like he took care of him his whole life.
Chris bumps into Elena and tells her the news. They hug and he cries on her shoulder and then they kiss (Oooh). Tommy just so happens to see them and he takes a picture and sends it to Rebecca who appeared hurt when she saw it.
John Ross talks to JR and finds out that Bobby signed the papers. JR tells him that he is proud of him. John Ross meets with Mitch and he demanded more money from John Ross to keep quiet. Now he wants 5 million dollars instead of 2 million. John Ross does not like being blackmailed and storms out of his office.
Chris told Rebecca about his father’s cancer and that Elena helped him deal with it. He told her that he knows what is important in life and that he loves her so much. He apologized for being distracted and promises to focus on her more. She hugs him and then throws the file she got from Tommy in the trash can.
Bobby and Ann are having pillow talk and she lets Bobby know that she thinks JR gave the journal to John Ross. Bobby agrees that he probably did, but he just wants peace in the family (good luck with that one).
After Mitch’s threat, John Ross is on a mission to dig up dirt on him. JR gave him a tip about his son killing someone and then paid the only witness off. John Ross met with a private investigator who told him the witness died, so he still has nothing. One thing the investigator found out was the person who sent the infamous email to Elena. Brace yourself…It was Rebecca Sutter! The plot thickens.
Wow! What an episode! I had a feeling Rebecca or Tommy sent the email to Elena to break her and Chris up. What do you think they are up to? Do you think John Ross can really trust JR? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below and check back with us next week!
