DALLAS: Hedging your bets
We get a bonus episode on premiere night. Yay! The second episode begins with John Ross meeting with JR and Marta. JR instructs John Ross to get the papers drawn up for the sale of Southfork as soon as possible. Marta and John Ross leave and they start kissing in the parking lot (OMG!) and JR sees them through the window. (come on John Ross do you really think you can pull one over on your dad?)
Bobby has surgery scheduled soon and his pain is getting worse. He still hasn’t told his family about his cancer. Ann sees him in pain and reveals that she found his medicine before the wedding. He assures her that he will fight with all he has and he will be fine.
Elena confronts John Ross about the email she received from Chris. He swears he didn’t send the email but she is skeptical. He realizes that if she never got that email, she would be married to Chris now. He gets pissed and storms out! (John Ross is a bad man!)
Chris and Rebecca decide to put off their honeymoon until everything settles down. Chris tells his Dad that he is uncomfortable with him selling their family home to fund his alternative energy project (especially with the earthquake setback). Bobby assures him that is not the only reason he wants to sell. He doesn’t want Chris and John Ross to fight over the land like he and JR did, if something happens to him. Chris doesn’t understand because he is still unaware of his father’s cancer.
John Ross pays a visit to Mitch, his attorney, and asks what is taking him so long to draft the papers. Mitch tells John Ross that $500,000 isn’t enough for him anymore. He wants $2,000,000 or he is going to tell Bobby and JR that he set them up.
Elena pays Sue Ellen a visit to ask her to speak to the bank’s board on her behalf. They turned her down for a loan. Sue Ellen tells her to forget the bank, she will loan her the money because she believes in her (I have to say it is so awesome to see Sue Ellen as a powerful and successful woman this time around. Who knows, she might the next governor of Texas!)
John Ross and JR show up to the big charity ball together. Sue Ellen gives a great speech about fundraising and wow’s the crowd. Bobby sees JR and is stunned that he is out and about. He claims that his last visit helped him snap out of it. He introduces JR to Marta Del Sol and tells John Ross to apologize to his uncle and he does (wow these two are really playing the game).
JR sees Sue Ellen and goes to talk to her. He congratulated her and told her that she would make a hell of a governor and she is still the prettiest girl at the ball (aw so sweet).
John Ross approaches Elena and asks if they are still partners. She is still skeptical about the email. She says they can still be partners professionally but they need to take a break personally. John Ross gets upset and he goes to find Marta and they end up in her hotel room. He tells her that he needs $100,000 to give to Mitch because he is threatening to tell JR everything. She then makes them a drink and puts something in his drink before giving it to him. He drank it and threw her on the bed and they started making out. She pressed a button and a small camera on the fan started to record (This Marta lady cannot be trusted). John Ross wakes up the next morning a little woozy with ropes tied around his wrists (don’t you just hate when that happens? ). Marta gave him the cash for Mitch.
Bobby is getting ready to leave for surgery and Ann is concerned. She doesn’t want him to give up the fight. She wants him to tell Chris about the cancer and re-think selling Southfork.
Rebecca’s brother tells Rebecca that Ann offered him a job on the ranch. “I’m in” he says. He told her she pulled off quite a stunt getting Chris to stay in Southfork instead of going on his honeymoon. She told him their plan is right on schedule (what plan? What is she up to?). Her brother reminded her that they have worked on this job for two years and there is a lot of money on the line (wow, trust no one on this show). He said she better keep her eye on the ball and she shouldn’t be too comfortable being “Mrs. Ewing.”
John Ross meets a guy on a train and instructs him to find out any dirt he can on Mitch. He also gives him a copy of the email that Elena got and asked him to find out who sent it to her.
JR takes a trip to Mexico to visit Marta’s dad, Carlos, to discuss the Southfork deal. Carlos has no idea about the deal he made with his daughter, so he calls her in. She walks in and she is not the Marta Del Sol that he knows. JR is onto John Ross. He apologizes for his mistake and tells the real Marta “I have to introduce you to my son, he is a chip off the old block.”
Wow! Only two episodes in and there is so much going on! What do you think fake Marta is up to? What is up with Rebecca and her brother? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Dallas airs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c on TNT.
