MELISSA & JOEY: New Season Kicks Off with Back-to-Back Eps

ABC Family kicks off their summer schedule with a double dose of Melissa & Joey, tomorrow beginning at  8/7 central. According to the show’s star, Melissa Joan Hart, this season is all about “keeping it light.”

In the two-episode premiere, the house is undergoing extensive renovations and the family members are all displaced and beginning to feel the tension. When Mel reluctantly puts Joe in charge of the renovations, things don’t go quite according to her plan. In fact they pretty much turn out just as she feared.

Bren Foster guest stars as the guy who could possibly make all of Mel’s dreams come true. Lennox’s plans to defy the school’s censorship rules backfire when she is added to the team in charge of school spirit. It seems like a horrible fit for her until the team’s leader (Hannah Montana’s Cody Linley) approaches her with another idea.

The second season of Melissa & Joey promise to carry as many laughs as the first season, along with the winks and nods to a possible hook up between the two. “Part of the funny part of this show is that they’re idiots that they’re not getting together, but at the same time it works for them,” explains Hart. “You want that sexual tension, I think. It really drives the show.”

She’s right too! It’s funny to watch Mel fall for a guy who is so obviously like Joe. And then to see Joe’s jealously disguised as brotherly concern – it’s what makes the show so much fun to watch. I also like following Lennox’s character evolve into this smart, gorgeous girl who is never happy unless she’s going against the crowd.

Get caught up on season one with the all day marathon of Melissa & Joey, beginning tomorrow at 12/11c, on ABC Family. It all leads up to the one hour premiere at 8/7c.
