DON’T TRUST THE B— IN APT 23: “Daddy’s Girl” is a Terrible Matchmaker
In this week’s episode of Don’t Trust the B— in Apt. 23, Chloe lends a hand when June decides to get back into the dating pool, keeping her life plan on course.
Based on Chloe’s track record, June refuses to let Chloe set her up with a “guy she knows”, Scott (played by the gorgeous Michael Landes), who she thinks would be perfect for June. James Van Der Beek suggests that she help June but without her knowing it. So Chloe throws a party and June walks into it meeting Scott almost immediately. The two hit it off, finding so much in common they are practically finishing each other’s sentences.
Chloe walks in to find Scott and June making out on the couch and says for them not to mind her, she’s going to bed. She finishes off with a “good night, Daddy”, and June is horrified. I gotta say, Scott and his wife must’ve had Chloe when they were 12, he looked so young.
Of course, June immediately tells Scott she’s not going to see him again and throws him out of the apartment. Chloe can’t see the problem with June dating her father, especially since they seemed to really enjoy each other’s company. June finally decides to see Scott again and she sleeps with him. As she returns home and begins to tell Chloe that she was right about Scott and that she was sorry she didn’t trust Chloe, Chloe turns and introduces her mother who is also there – and in a wheelchair.
Chloe’s mom is heartbroken over the breakup between her and Scott, and she also knows that Scott is seeing someone else, not knowing it’s June. What a mess. I wouldn’t trust Chloe if my life depended on it, but that’s the whole point of this show. She has more issues than her mommy and daddy issues.
Chloe goes with June to break it off with Scott and they meet him on his bike near the street. He starts to pull the daddy card on Chloe so she pushes him into the street and an oncoming cyclist. Holy crap! After I got over my shock, I laughed myself silly. In the end, June finally decides to throw away the book and start living her life ‘unplugged’ – without her life plan.
Meanwhile, during all of this James Van Der Beek is trying to break away from his [easyazon-link asin=”B005CGI3ZG”]Dawson’s Creek[/easyazon-link] image and not succeeding at all. Even dressed as Indiana Jones, teaching an acting class, all the students want is for him to quote Dawson. When he finally meets a woman from Russia, where “Dawson’s Creek” is just getting started, he decides to stop fighting against the inevitable and remain Dawson for the good of all those poor people who have yet to witness his greatness. Or something like that.
I’ve never watched “Dawson’s Creek” but I hope after this episode, that we’ve heard the last of it. At least on this show. It was a bit overdone.
Next week’s episode of Don’t trust the B— in Apartment 23 is titled “Parent Trap” and airs April 25 at 9:30/8:30c, on ABC. Join us here for the recap!
