Happy Valentine’s Day: Favorite TV Couples

By  |

Today is Valentine’s Day and most people will be celebrating this ‘day of love’ with someone they hold dear; but for someone like me, you prefer to celebrate the day be honoring the TV couples you hold dear. I know you’re out there so please read on and enjoy the list of current TV couples that are near and dear to so many of us TV viewers:

Castle and Beckett

Castle and Beckett (Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic) on Castle – Okay, so they aren’t really a couple – with the operative word being – YET! Castle has already declared his love for Kate even if it was while he thought she was dying from that gunshot wound and even though she claims she doesn’t remember anything from that incident except when she is behind closed doors with her shrink that is. They make a great team and a soon-to-be-couple. Of course, in true TV tradition, they will get together on the last episode of the show, which will hopefully be a very long time from now because while I want to see them together ASAP, I don’t want to see the show end for a many more seasons to come, as my Monday night wouldn’t be complete without Castle.

Dyson and Bo

Dyson and Bo (Kris Holden-Ried and Anna Silk) on Lost Girl – The folks here in the US who are watching season one of this addictive sci-fi-laced series know that Dyson and Bo are a very hot on-again, off-again couple and part of an intoxicating love triangle with Dr. Lauren (Zoie Palmer), but those viewers in Canada (and online) – SPOILER ALERT! – will know that the love triangle surrounding these three is much more complex with the end of Bo and Dyson’s relationship, his partnering up with old flame Ciara and the miraculous return of Lauren’s lady-love Nadia. But regardless of all these obstacles, I still remain firm that Dyson and Bo will make their way back to each other.

Spencer and Toby

Spencer and Toby (Troian Bellisario and Keegan Allen) on Pretty Little Liars – All of the girls on this intriguing ABC Family series have tumultuous relationships with their significant others, but, for me, it all goes back to Spencer and Toby’s love affair. At first the girls were all suspicious of Toby’s intentions, but once those misconceptions were alleviated, the love began to develop between him and Spencer, slowly becoming one of the most endearing relationships on current TV. But now, because of even more intense threats from the girls’ nemesis “A”, Spencer pushed Toby out of her life in order to protect him, of course; but at some point he will have to come back to Rosewood and get the answers he so desperately needs and reserves. And, oh what a moment that will be.

Snow White and Prince Charming

David (Prince Charming) and Mary-Margaret (Snow White) (Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin) on Once Upon a Time – Talk about a complicated love affair, right? Stuck in a world not of their choosing without the memories of what they had in the fairytale world because of the Evil Queen’s curse. Add in the fact that in the town of Storybrooke, David is married and having an affair with school teacher Mary Margaret. This fact will, soon enough, be made even more complicated because the Evil Queen – in her Storybrooke guise of Mayor Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla)– knows about the affair and that could only spell their doom even greater than the doom that befell them in the fairytale world. But the love they have for each other in both worlds in assuredly going to win out, don’t you think?

Wade and Zoe

Wade and Dr. Zoe Hart (Wilson Bethel and Rachel Bilson) on Hart of Dixie – Once again this is another couple who isn’t a couple, but the chemistry between these two polar opposites has been palpable since the first time they met when Dr. Hart arrived in the little town of Bluebell, Alabama to take over the practice of her biological father. And, if the antics between the two on the most recent episode are any indication, these two are absolutely crazy about each other they just need some sense knocked into both of them so they face reality and admit how they really feel. Since the show is in its first season there is a great possibility that the sexual tension will continue between Wade and Zoe for quite some time to come, but it’ll be worth it as eventually these two crazy kids will need to open their eyes and see what is waiting for them just across the pond that borders outside both their bungalows.

So, there you have it: some of the TV couples who are near and dear to many TV viewers, myself included. Who are your favorite couples appearing on TV currently? Please share your thoughts below.

Animal Kingdom

MUSICIAN SPOTLIGHT: This month’s spotlight is on the indie rock band Animal Kingdom whose members hail from South London, United Kingdom. The band is represented by Richard Sauberlich (vocals, guitar and piano), Hamish Crombie (bass) and Geoff Lea (drums).

The band originally formed as a quartet in the late 2000s and later signing with Warner Records in 2008. They released their debut album called Signs and Wonders in 2009. The first two singles off this album were “Chalk Stars” and “Tin Man”. The success of the band’s debut album earned them the spot of Best New Alternative Artist according to iTunes. The album was also one of the iTunes music staff’s Rewind 2009 editorial picks.

Another single “Bright Lights” was used in the promos for the HBO series Big Love. This track, like all of their songs, showcases the band’s sound, which encompasses elegant melodies and lead singer Sauberlich’s haunting vocals. Their sound has been compared to that of Snow Patrol and, ironically enough, the band toured with Snow Patrol on a number of dates in 2009. The band has also shared the stage with bands like Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses and Camera Obscura as well as completing a successful tour of the UK with the band Silversun Pickups. Another song off their debut album, “Walls of Jericho” was selected to air on the internationally-renowned public radio station KCRW’s daily feature “Today’s Top Tune” and their most recent single is “Two by Two”.

Their second album – now as a trio – is as-yet untitled, but will be out soon. The first single from that forthcoming album “Strange Attractor” is now available at iTunes.
