GRIMM: Preview: “Tarantella”, Not for the Arachnophobic
Tomorrow night’s episode of Grimm is titled Tarantella and when I first saw that title, I knew what it was going to be about. Nick and Hank are after a serial killer who’s pattern suggests to Nick that he’s dealing with another, new creature. This one is called a Spinnatod. This is a female spider-like creature who kills its male victims after luring them into bed. To maintain her transformation she must kill three males every five years or else she ages at an accelerated rate. She is also attracted to shiny things and usually steals rings, watches, etc. from her victims.
The Spinnetod is played by Amy Acker ([easyazon-link asin=”B0024FAR66″]Dollhouse[/easyazon-link],[easyazon-link asin=”B001MVWRNE”]Alias[/easyazon-link],[easyazon-link asin=”B003YF9Q08″]Angel[/easyazon-link]) and we see her as your typical Black Widow, but this one has a conscience. Her method of killing is totally gross, more than usual for Grimm. I despise spiders so this episode creeped me out more than any of the others we’ve seen so far. And Acker did a fantastic job of helping that feeling along, thank you.
Nick also deals with the weird people who are watching the house. We are reminded once again of how Grimms are viewed on this show by both humans and creatures.
I have to give this episode 5 out of 5 spiderwebs for its ability to bring back those recurring nightmares I had as a child.
Tarantella airs tomorrow night at 9/8c, on NBC.
