GLEE: The Spanish Teacher

Another week and another reason to love some characters more and become less enamored with others. Santana Lopez, you continue to rock my world, and Will Schuester, you continue to make questionable life choices.

Those questionable life choices for Will include trying to be a better Spanish teacher to get tenure, but instead just remind me of your poor skills teaching. Also, your belittlement of your fiancee for her work at school while you’re stressing about your job.

Santana, my reasons for loving you grow with each week. You continue to be sassy and amazing while also trying to remind people of the heart of so many matters. Will isn’t the worst teacher, just a bad Spanish teacher. Also, when you constantly stand up for yourself, be it from Coach Sue or Shue when he wonders why you reported his poor teaching skills.

In other news that is equally sweet and scary: our student relationships are just getting tired. Mercedes, please do not try and choose between Sam and Shane. Rachel and Finn, you really do need to tell people about this engagement and make it a choice that isn’t done out of some odd sense of obligation, but real love.

Lastly, let’s focus on Sue’s desire for offspring and how offensive it is to ask the New Directions (both students and Will) as a way to get tenure for herself. But that might not be the best part of Sue’s storyline this week. Watching Coach Roz bring her down a peg at every turn is a nice chance of pace.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
