NIKITA Recap: “Clean Sweep” (Episode 13)

By  |

Percy, Nikita and Michael

Operation Clean Sweep is underway and the cause and effect of that operation reverberates throughout Division, Birkhoff’s safehouse and at the Gates House where the members of Oversight are being held by Percy’s Guardian thugs.

It’s a night then a day filled with uncomfortable bargains and unusual alliances, one hell of a gunfight and a couple intense stand-offs.

In an effort to save the members of Oversight as well as her own tenuous control of Division, Amanda lets Percy out of his plastic prison and discovers the explosives that were set by Roan. These incidents lead to even more trouble as a Division bomb squad is deployed to deactivate the explosives and Alex volunteers to go back inside Division to thwart the Clean Sweep program that will decimate all of Division.

Nikita

As the story unfolds, an unusual alliance is formed among Michael, Nikita and Pierce in order to get to the Gates House to stop the Guardians from enacting the failsafe set worth by their controller, Percy, and to save Pierce’s mother the senator. But unbeknownst to our merry trio, Gogol is in hot pursuit of the Guardians, tracking their location to the Gates House.

What ensues is a race against time for all the key players to accomplish their goals: Alex, with the help of Birkhoff, to stop the Clean Sweep program from happening by disabling the controls at ground zero; Nikita, Michael and Pierce getting to the Guardians to rescue the Oversight members; Percy to kill his Division guards and continue with his nefarious plans and Gogol to finally get the upper hand.

Pierce

Not everyone comes out a winner with all of the members of Oversight – except for Senator Pierce – being gunned down by the Guardians upon Percy’s order; one of the Guardians being gunned down by Gogol and Nikita, Michael and Pierce taking down their fair share of Gogol’s hit men before storming the Gates House to find a virtual, albeit small, massacre has taken place.

Meanwhile, some characters come out winners – although not for the betterment of everyone: Percy, Miller (the Guardian who survived the gunfight) and Roan all make a clean get away – despite the fact that Percy was shot during the intense gunfight at the Gates House – and Alex saves the day at Division with a deft assist by Birkhoff.

Also an unexpected alliance between Amanda and Semak’s right-hand man, Ari, is finally revealed – this is the mystery person she has had phone contact with over the past few episodes. This new development could spell major trouble for Nikita and her team as Amanda has plans for Nikita that will, assuredly, not be good especially now that Amanda knows the Senator is the only Oversight member left alive. Amanda is no longer under the Senator’s control so in an effort to save herself the Senator bargains with Michael and Nikita, telling them she will get a Presidential pardon for them both and, while her son Sean is concerned for her safety by coming clean of her involvement, the Senator assures her son she will win immunity by keeping her silence.

And, what about Ari and Amanda’s plans to wrest control out of Semak’s hands and, in essence, into their own and what kind of chess game are they playing for which Alex will be the key movement? Only time will tell.

Clean Sweep” is the 13th episode of the second season of Nikita with the next new episode of Nikita airing on Friday, February 10 at 9 PM on The CW.
