Modern Family: Little Bo Bleep
I have to start out by asking, why is it so bleeping funny when children curse? It isn’t as funny when adults do it. This episode was another one that left me in hysterics.
There is a poll in the local newspaper that says people find Claire to be “Angry and Unlikeable.” So the family decides to help her improve her image by having a mock debate. She only has a few things to work on like sarcasm, eye rolling, no hands on hips, face touching, finger pointing, and making sure she shows her good side. No pressure.
Cam and Mitchell are so proud that Lily is going to be a flower girl. She looks adorable in a bright blue dress that lights up (I thought who in the world would have a dress that lights up in their wedding?). Cam shows her the proper way to drop the flower petals. She takes her turn and they look at her so lovingly like the proud parents they are. That’s when it happened. Lily dropped the F-Bomb! GASP! Yes she did and it was absolutely hilarious. Mitchell was astonished and Cam was trying to keep it together but left the room giggling.
After Lily dropped the F-bomb three times Cam and Mitchell told her it’s a bad word and she should never say it. Lily knows it makes Cam laugh, so when she sees him crying at the wedding (you know Cam is always crying at weddings) what does she do? She dropped a nice loud F-Bomb in the Church and everyone laughed. Could you blame them? Then Little Bo Bleep said it again and there was more laughter, except for the bride and groom of course.
Jay’s beloved dog Stella keeps jumping in the pool even though she can’t swim. Jay is convinced she is suicidal because Gloria isn’t fond of her. Jay wants her to have swimming lessons and this annoys Gloria even more because he taught Manny to swim by throwing him in the pool. We find out that Gloria does have a soft spot for Stella after all, because she jumped in the pool to save her while wearing a beautiful dress. Then we see she was only trying to get her squeaky toy out of the filter. Jay is relieved that there is no doggie suicide to worry about.
The entire family shows up to Claire’s debate (except for Mitchell and Cam who opt to watch it on TV). Claire is prepared to discuss the issues but her opponent had a different agenda. Duane brought up that little incident when Phil tried stripped naked and broke into someone’s hotel room which lead him to questioning by the police for lewd conduct. Woops! Claire tried to explain that it was Valentine’s Day and he was trying to surprise her but broke into the wrong room. Phil made it worse by saying “I like to make love to my wife. Everyone does.” The entire spectacle went viral on the internet in a “Sex Freak Candidate” video which humiliated Claire. Where was Lily when they really needed her? This was the perfect time for her to drop an F-Bomb! Oh well, maybe next week.
Modern Family airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
