NICE BOY OF THE WEEK: Charlie Rowe

Charlie Rowe is starring as Peter Pan in the upcoming Syfy mini-series, Neverland. I met Charlie at the Syfy Digital Media Tour 2011 in October, and he’s the sweetest most mature 15 year-old I’ve met in a while. There was simply no question about making him a Nice Boy.

Charlie is just coming on the scene and I think that Neverland may just be the launch pad to his career. He assumes the role of Peter as easily as putting on a favorite old coat. To hear him talk about his experience you almost wish you could have been there on set with him every day. He’s got just the right pixie look about him to make him believable as the character, added to his incredible talent which seems so natural. “I was pretty apprehensive because I have quite big boots to fill. It was great fun, a completely different story to the original story. I think we did it justice.”

His co-stars, Anna Friel and Rhys Ifans, positively gushed over him, and I watched Charlie during the Syfy event as he stuck pretty close with Anna and Rhys. They seemed like a little family. “They are like my mother and father on the set even though my mother and father were actually on the set.” During the panel Anna said to Charlie, “You were an absolute pleasure. I think I’ve got a very bright star on the horizon sitting right next to me.” High praise from the Golden Globe winner.

Rhys Ifans said of Charlie, “I was not working with a boy. I was working with a professional actor from the very beginning to the very end and then I can put my hand to my heart and say he is one of the most professional, eloquent young men I’ve ever, ever worked with so that was a pleasure from the (oft).”

Indeed, Charlie is an amazing young gentleman and I am very proud to add him to our Nice Boy wall of fame.
