Rueben's Ramblings
Spending a Day with the Cast and Crew of Castle
Next Saturday (November 12) the very first Castle Convention – a one-day charity event in honor of the TV show Castle – will be held in Los Angeles.
The event will be run by CastleTV.net, an online fan community established in 2008 to support and discuss the show (and as a way for the shows fans to socialize) and the California Browncoats, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the Firefly and Serenity fandom, cast and crew through charitable work.
As most TV viewers know, actor Nathan Fillion is the star of Castle and was the lead in both the short-lived TV series Firefly and its box office sequel Serenity; ergo the reason for the California Browncoats being a part of the planning committee for this charity (fan) event.
Currently series creator, executive producer and writer Andrew Marlowe, producer and writer Terri Miller and actors Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas are on the guest list with hopefully more cast and crew members being added in the very near future.
The schedule of events throughout the convention include photo and autograph opportunities with the guests, on-stage trivia contests and video presentations, a VIP meet and greet with the guests, a charity auction and on-stage Q&As with the guests.
As stated earlier, this convention is a charity event with all proceeds going to support charities nominated by the attending celebrity guests, including Best Friends Animal Society, The Young Storytellers Foundation and Puppies Behind Bars.
The convention will be held at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys with general admission tickets costing $55.00.
If you live in Los Angeles or will be in the area on Saturday, November 12, you just might be able to join in the fun. Please visit the Castle Convention website here for more details.
I will be attending the event with a couple of friends and will provide coverage of all the fun and frivolity shortly after the event.
