REVENGE: Intrigue
At the end of last week’s episode of Revenge, Frank shoved Lydia off the balcony of her home. I really thought she was dead, which makes it more interesting that she is in a coma, very much alive. Of course we can safely assume that she will wake up but in what condition is yet to be seen.
This let’s Frank off the hook, somewhat. At least he’s not going down for murder. He did, however, lose his job with the Graysons. Emily has Nolan email the surveillance video from Lydia’s attack to Conrad. Victoria also sees the video and is horrified, and thanks to Conrad, she’s now afraid of Frank.
It’s fair to say that Emily was horrified when Nolan showed the video to her as well. It was never part of her plan to hurt anyone like that. She’s all about ruining their lives and watching them suffer.
Nolan is playing matchmaker with Jack, encouraging him to go with him to the big Grayson fourth of July party, giving Jack the opportunity to tell Emily about his feelings for her and make his play. Jack had already cleared the way by scheduling Daniel to work a double shift his first day on the job at the bar. When he does get time alone with Emily, he is rejected by her. Ouch! I felt bad for both of them. It’s clear that Emily has feelings for Daniel, but she is also attracted to Jack. Something that she never anticipated when she was laying out her plans for the Grayson take-down.
Tyler is a problem. A really big one. He is a sick, sick puppy. He arranges a double-date with himself and Ashley, Daniel and Emily. But Emily calls him out on a story he has told, making him look like a liar and a fake.
But Tyler has plans of his own and he goes to the bar while Daniel is working, talks him into having a shot with him and drugs his drink. I must be really slow in processing plots because it wasn’t until Tyler to bed (in Jack’s room) that I realized that Tyler wants Daniel all to himself. When Daniel throws Tyler off of him, Tyler leaves, but he slams his head into a pole, then goes back to the Grayson’s party where Victoria sees him. Tyler tells her that Daniel hit him in a drunken brawl, but it just made him more determined than ever to help Daniel back onto the wagon. It’s so sad that for all Victoria’s mistrust of people, she doesn’t see right through Tyler. It looks to me as if Tyler’s plan is to cut Daniel off from everyone so that Daniel has only Tyler left to turn to. Sick, I tell you!
Frank discovers that it was Nolan who got the surveillance video from Lydia’s apartment and confronts him at the party, pulling a gun on him and trying to get Nolan to admit that Conrad put him up to it. Emily confronts Tyler just outside the door to the room where Nolan and Frank were, and when they go inside and discover Nolan there, he takes Emily out and tells her that Frank is onto her. When she asks how that is possible, Nolan tells her that it’s because Frank is better at uncovering things than they are. He tells her she’s on her own. Too, too bad, because Nolan had wanted all along to be a part of everything Emily was planning – wanted to help her, even. Now Frank scares him off. Will he still be there to cover Emily’s back and look after her for her father’s sake? I certainly hope so!
Frank watches Nolan as he speaks with Emily, and the show ends with Frank outside of Emily’s house, watching her. This is bad.
So far, I have been thoroughly enjoying watching Emily take down her enemies, one by one. I really hope they don’t take that element away from the show. I mean, it is all about Revenge, isn’t it?
