Revenge: Who Can You “Trust”
This week on Revenge Emily decided to take down her father’s ex-business partner and friend, while Victoria does her own digging to find out more about Emily’s past.
Emily has good-boy Daniel wrapped around her pinky finger, getting a date while at his polo match. To the chagrin of Victoria, who clearly doesn’t trust Emily, her PI comes up with little good information about Emily’s past. It turns out that she’s just a daddy’s girl, with money to spend and pictures to back up her stories. Well played, Emily Amanda Clarke. Although, the PI and Victoria do find a connection between Emily and Victoria’s ex-BFF Lydia’s husband. Could Emily have embarked on an Upper East Side affair? How very Gossip Girl…
Aside from her budding love life, Emily also finds the time to take down a major hedge fund manager, Bill Harmon, an old family friend of her fathers. Harmon was a man who her father trusted, both with his business and his personal secrets. He was also the only person who knew about his affair with Victoria Grayson. Harmon then turned on her father and testified against him in his trial, perjuring himself to frame an innocent man. Emily uses her connection with Nolan to convince Harmon that investing in Nolan’s company is a good financial move. Unfortunately for him, Emily misleads him into a huge financial loss, destroying his company at the same time. This chick is one smart cookie, if you ask me!
In the meantime the love square triangle between Amanda, Emily, Jack and Daniel becomes ever more present. Jack has been raising Emily’s dog ever since childhood, and he named his boat “Amanda” (seriously, soo sweet). While, Emily goes on her first date with Daniel. The date takes an interesting turn when everyone yells, “surprise” from inside Emily’s house. Turns out Daniel and Emily’s BFF Ashley decided to throw her a “welcome to the Hampton’s” party. Don’t worry though; at the end of the night Emily and Daniel share an adorable kiss on the porch (while Victoria, his mom, creepily looks down at them from her mega-mansion spying balcony. Seriously lady, get a life!)
Back at the Stowaway Pub, Charlotte’s “boyfriend” and his posse beat up Declan. Doesn’t he know that girls hate it guys do that sort of thing? I have a strong feeling he’s about to learn the consequences of his actions. After they leave, Declan, in an angry outburst, calls his father a loser. When Jack returns to the pub he finds his father passed out (heart-attack perhaps?) on the floor. Poor Declan! We know you love your daddy and would never mean what you say to him. I guess next time you’ll be a little more careful, maybe tell him he’s a loser but throw in an “I love you” just for good measure.
In the end Emily wishes herself, Amanda, a happy birthday alone in her newly bought Hamptons abode. Why spend a birthday alone? I guess that’s what you would do if you were a girl who can’t trust anyone. Bummer.
What did you think of this week’s episode? Do you think that Emily and Daniel are meant to be, or should she tell Jack the truth about herself and find true love with him? Will Charlotte go crawling back to Declan for forgiveness? And most importantly, who will Emily Thorne take down next?
