RAISING HOPE: “Sabrina Has Money”

This week on Raising Hope, the Chance family made a big new discovery, SABRINA HAS MONEY! What, you ask? Could this be? Everyone’s favorite grocery store girl is actually loaded, well apparently it’s true.

The truth comes out when Burt gets a new client and goes inside to use the bathroom. He discovers a picture of Sabrina and an older gentleman on a yacht (ensuing in literally the funniest facial confusion ever, bravo to Garret Dillahunt). Burt steals the picture to take home and show the fam. They decide not to confront Sabrina about it, hoping to avoid making things awkward and uncomfortable. Obviously that didn’t last very long. While rummaging around for money for the pizza, Jimmy lets it slip (and by slip, I mean yelling freak-out) that they know about Sabrina’s family.

Sabrina tells them that she cut herself off, disliking the use of her father’s money and the embarrassment over the way “rich people act.” But that obviously doesn’t hinder the Chance’s curiosity, so the next day Sabrina takes them to her fathers’ outlandish mansion. He offers them lobster (a delicacy they had never experienced…shocker) and Burt and Virginia become completely enthralled by his $2,000 Japanese toilet. All the while, adorable baby Hope breaks Sabrina’s mothers’ favorite china, to literally no ones chagrin.

They go home later, only find that her father had one of his fancy toilets sent to them, direct from Japan. However, Burt soon becomes jealous of Virginia’s reaction to the toilet, trying to impress her by buying a lobster for dinner.

Meanwhile, Jimmy and Sabrina attend her older sisters birthday dinner. Jimmy is a little intimidated by the conversations around him, but he finds the people there to be very nice and welcoming. On the other hand, Sabrina believes them to all be obnoxious and rude. When she and Jimmy finally mingle together, Sabrina turns into a total bee-atch—pointing out everyone’s flaws and making people extremely upset. Jimmy confronts Sabrina, telling her she’s acting like a total jerk. It turns out, Sabrina is very insecure around these people, feeling too short, not good enough, etc. She goes back into the party to apologize and they end up having a really nice time. NEWS FLASH SABRINA: Jimmy is perfect for you! He’s totally into you and knows you better than everyone else. Just get together already!!!

In the end, the Chance family realizes that they are happy just the way they are. Virginia returns the fancy toilet to Sabrina’s dad and sells back the lobster to the store. Sabrina and Jimmy realize that while they may be lacking in some ways, the qualities that possess make them wonderful people (her being short, Jimmy being an awesome dad). And Maw-maw only ate one fake piece of food the entire episode!
