This week is the official start of the 2011-2012 Fall TV season and what a crazy week of programming it will be for every TV viewer no matter how little or how much TV you actually watch each week.
Last night we saw the returns of the dramas Castle and Hawaii Five-0, the debut of The Playboy Club and the finales of The Protector and Eureka. For the comedy fans, there were back-to-back new episodes of How I Met Your Mother and the return of Two and a Half Men. Meanwhile, the summer shows Warehouse 13, Alphas and The Big C are playing out their last few episodes.
Meanwhile, tonight will be a BIG night of programming with NCIS and its spin-off series NCIS: Los Angeles returning with new episodes as well as the debut of the new show Unforgettable along with Glee and Body of Proof back with their season premieres as well. And, 90210, Ringer and Parenthood will each have new episodes, as they had their season premiere/debut last week. Sons of Anarchy is also on with another new episode too. For the comedy lovers out there, New Girl will debut with the return of Raising Hope directly afterward.
Tomorrow night heaps on even more programming to fit into our busy weekly schedules, including the debut of Revenge and the returns of Criminal Minds and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Harry’s Law and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Meanwhile, the comedies The Middle and Modern Family will be back with one-hour premieres and the new comedies Up All Night and Free Agents will debut.
Over on Thursday night, there is a boatload of programming, including the returns of The Mentalist and Grey’s Anatomy as well as the debuts of Charlie’s Angels, Person of Interest, Prime Suspect and Charlie’s Angels. There will be back-to-back new episodes of The Big Bang Theory; and new episodes of The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle will also air, as their season premiere and debut were last week.
Then at the end of the week, CSI: NY, Blue Bloods, Fringe and Supernatural will be back on with new episodes along with the return of Nikita now on its new night and time. Meanwhile, the new drama A Gifted Man will debut; and new episodes of Haven and Strike Back will air too. There will also be encore episodes of Modern Family and Revenge as well.
And, for those wishing to catch up on encore episodes of Harry’s Law, Prime Suspect and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit you will get that chance on Saturday night; and there will also be a new episode of the international hit series Doctor Who.
Lastly, over on Sunday night, Desperate Housewives will be back along with the debut of the new show Pan Am, and then there is the return of The Good Wife on its new night alongside the return of CSI: Miami. The cable series Boardwalk Empire will be back with its season premiere and Against the Wall and Breaking Bad will have new episodes as well as the finale of Drop Dead Diva.
As you can see, the insanity has began with a lot of programing on TV – be it on cable or the major networks. So, what shows do you want to watch as the new fall season rolls out? What new dramas are you most looking forward to? What summer shows will you be sad to see end? Please share.
