Women Behind the Scenes: Nancy Miller
Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is shone on writer, producer and series creator Nancy Miller.
She started out in 1990 working as a writer on the original Law & Order and followed that up with working as a writer on the short-lived series The Round Table in 1992 as well as being a writer for the short-lived series Against the Grain in 1993.
Over the next few years, she continued working as a writer for TV shows like The Cosby Mysteries (in 1994), The Marshal and The Monroes (both in 1995). It was in the following year that she worked as a writer and co-executive producer on the NBC series Profiler. And, then she worked on the short-lived series Leaving L.A. as a writer and executive producer.
It was in 1998 that she created the dramatic series Any Day Now, which ran on Lifetime for four seasons and starred Annie Potts and Lorraine Toussaint. Nancy was the executive producer and main writer for the entire run of the show.
She then moved on to work as an executive producer on CSI: Miami for one season in 2002-2003 and worked on the short-lived series Threat Matrix as a writer and consulting producer. Two years later she worked as a writer ad co-executive producer on The Closer and she was one of the writers on the short film Vertical Bridge.
It was in 2007 that she created and worked as the head writer of the memorable police drama Saving Grace that starred Holly Hunter and Laura San Giacomo, which ran for three seasons on TNT. It was during this time that she executive produced the made-for-TV movie Under that was directed by Charles S. Dutton.
Currently, she is an executive producer and a writer on the new police drama Against the Wall on Lifetime.
