PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: The Hanna, Caleb & Lucas Love Triangle Heats Up

By  |

On the eve of the mid-season finale for Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family, let’s take a look at what the cast of the popular series, based on the novel series by Sara Shepard, shared during a recent set visit to the Warner Bros. soundstage where the show is filmed for which NiceGirlsTV was invited to participate.

Tyler Blackburn

First, let’s talk with actors Brendan Robinson and Tyler Blackburn, who play Lucas and Caleb (respectively) and actress Ashley Benson, who plays Hanna.

Lucas and Hanna have been going to the same school for pretty much their entire live,s and he has had a crush on her for quite some time. Meanwhile, Caleb is the new bad boy (with a heart of gold) who showed up at Rosewood High School, somewhat sweeping Hanna off her feet and eventually capturing her heart. Lucas is always in the background, and during visit to the set of Rosewood High, it certainly seemed that a love triangle might take place between the three of them.

Ashley Benson

According to Ashley, “There is always going to a possibility of a love triangle.” However she continues by saying, “but I think, for now, Caleb and Hanna are going to be an item”. She did share that Lucas will always be there and “we’ll see what happens with that”. Tyler’s thoughts on the love triangle were this: “I think Lucas has always had a huge crush on Hanna (but) I think he understands her connection with Caleb”. Meanwhile, Brendan shared that while “Danielle (the girl from the yearbook staff who dated Lucas) isn’t necessarily out of the picture, I would never say that Hanna is completely out of the question. I think their relationship has a lot of different layers to it”.

Then shifting over to what the trio could share about the mid-season finale, they each agreed that “A” steps up his or her game even more so than last year. According to Brendan, “each girl is put to the test by “A”. They are manipulated into different things in their personal lives as opposed to a group. As for Caleb, Tyler says, “he comes back from California (and) finds Hanna just frazzled and a mess. I can share there is a wedding, Caleb attends and there is a fun scene that has to do with Kate”. And, Ashley shared that the “finale is a whopper”. Besides her dad’s wedding, “the girls are faced with challenges by “A” (individually and) there are certain tasks that (they) have to complete”. She continued with “(It’s a) huge cliffhanger”.

Brendan Robinson

When quizzed about who she thinks “A” might be, Ashley stated, “I don’t know, but I have some people in mind. I always say that I want it to be one of the 4 four girls, (as) I think that would just be such an interesting twist”. Pressed to say which of the girl she thinks it could be she said, “I think it could be Spencer because she’s smart enough to make sure everything goes well”.

To find out if we learn the identification of “A”, make sure to watch the mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars Tuesday, August 30 at 8/7c on ABC Family.

Please come back tomorrow for our talk with more cast members from Pretty Little Liars, including Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell, Lucy Hale, Ian Harding and Chad Lowe.

NOTE: There will be a special stand-alone Halloween episode on October 19, which NiceGirlsTV will cover at that time. The rest of the current season will be back in January 2012.
