Recap: Pretty Little Liars, “Touched by an A-ngel”
Talk about your creepy creepiness, this week’s Pretty Little Liars episode, “Touched by an A-gel”, had it in spades. Emily’s Alphabet cereal only has A’s inside along with a note from A calling her the ‘weakest link’. Emily’s masseuse is none other than A. Spencer and Toby discover that Ian, Garrett and Jason were all in a club called the NAT club, translated to “we see all”. Pair that with all the surveillance equipment found in Jason’s shed by Emily and Spencer, and it spells CREEPY.
Spencer – Spencer and Toby are packing up Ian’s things before Melissa comes home, and they discover a t-shirt with the words “The ‘NAT Club” on the front. They look through Ian’s yearbooks for clues and find that Garret and Jason were also in this club, and they were the only members. They find out that NAT translates to “we see all”. Spencer begins to think that A may not be just one person, but many. I consider this a break-through for the girls. Maybe they are on the road to finally being able to launch a full-on attack against A, and take her/him/them off guard for a change.
Emily – Emily was A’s main target in this week’s episode. She’s upset that she’s not swimming yet and she doesn’t know when A will release the medical information that was discovered concerning the PEDs. Hannah’s mother notices her stress and offers Emily her coupon for a massage. When Emily gets to the spa, she’s nervous but the masseuse settles her in and leaves the room for a moment. Enter A, who proceeds to give Em her massage unbeknownst to her. I’m telling you: creepy! Especially when Emily sees the A drawn in the condensation on her water glass. She then receives a text message from A telling her how easy it would be to break Em’s neck. This plus a box of A’s in her cereal is enough to undo Emily.
Aria – Jason or Ezra? Ezra is being stalked by his ex and he isn’t even aware of it until Aria says something to him. Then he doesn’t believe her. Typical. Of course, Aria doesn’t help things along when she accidentally blurts out that she and Jason kissed. However, as Aria said, who could blame Jason when no one knows about her and Ezra? Ugh! Jason, on the other hand, I just don’t know if I should be trusting him or not. At times he seems secretive and at others, he seems pretty sincere. I thought I believed him about not remembering the night Alison died, but now I’m not sure. Is he lying to protect himself? Then there are those photos of Aria sleeping. Jason says they belonged to Alison, but why would she do that? What was she doing with them? And why only Aria? It just doesn’t feel like something Alison would do. So did Jason take them? Knowing what we now know about the NAT club, I think they are his photos. Danger!
Hannah – trying to make her father happy, Hannah decides to be in his wedding, so she goes for her fitting along with Mona. Now, there’s trouble already. The dress is hideous and Mona is pretty vocal about saying so, as well as her thoughts and feelings on impressing the ‘new family’. Speaking of new family, who should enter the room but Kate, the soon-to-be step-sister. I don’t like her already. You know that she sees Hannah as inferior to her, but Mona picks up on the smell of wealth and privilege. When Kate invites the girls to spend the afternoon with her and her friends, Mona quickly accepts. It turns out the afternoon consists of horseback riding with Kate’s friends at their club. The afternoon turns to disaster when Mona and Hannah, inexperienced riders, lose Kate’s horses and returning to the club’s barn in frustration. Hannah accidentally hits the ‘on’ button for the ground’s loud speaker and Kate and all overhear her telling Mona some pretty awful things about Kate and her mother. Even though they may be true, (hee-hee!) Hannah shouldn’t have said them. Later in the day, Kate calls Hannah and sends her a terrible threat. It’s not enough that A is gunning for the girls, now Hannah has to deal with Kate’s vendetta. All this right on the heals of Caleb leaving town. I’m feeling pretty bad for this girl right now.
Emily has agreed to talk with Dr. Ann, but then kept blowing off her calls. This frustrated me to no end, because I really think at this point, the girls need some outside help concerning A. Judging by the preview for next week’s episode, that’s exactly what happens. The four friends need a huge break. It would be nice to see them turn the tables on A for once, and honestly, I think it’s time.
Ella spots Spencer in the car with Ezra and thinks there’s something going on between them. Nice timing. Just when Ezra finally tells Aria that he’s going to open up their relationship for all to see and know, starting with her parents, Ella tells Aria that if she found out Ezra was seeing Spencer, she would feel betrayed. This coming from the woman who left her children. And the Parent of the Year Award goes to…
And what’s with Jenna and Garrett? Jenna pays Spencer a visit at her home, no less, and warns Spencer against pursuing the search for Alison’s killer. She urges Spencer to just let it die with Ian, but I have to wonder why. What is Jenna afraid of? What does it all have to do with Garrett and Jason? What does Jenna know about Jason and “that night”?
These questions and more will remain unanswered in next week’s all new episode of Pretty Little Liars. I kid, but no, seriously!
