Switched at Birth Recap: The Homecoming
This week’s episode of Switched at Birth was the season finale and left us with lots to think about before next season (ABC Family has already renewed SAB for a second season).
The Father Returns
At Bay’s art show a man shows up and starts discussing her work with her. She gets excited thinking he may be an art dealer, bummer he’s not…he’s her father. Angelo Sorrento has reappeared! Angelo wants to get to know Bay, as she is his biological daughter. However, when Bay brings Angelo back to her house for dinner everyone is not okay with this. Especially Daphne who storms out after Angelo tries to talk with her. Apparently, he tried to stay in touch with her but at that point Regina cut him our of their lives.
Angelo’s intentions seem extremely honest until John goes to speak with him and we find out that he wants in on the lawsuit against the hospital. Uh oh, looks like Daddy only came back for the cash. As it turns out, Angelo has testimony from the nurse working that night that she had worked a 48 hour shift, which is obviously illegal. The Kennish’s lawyer thinks this testimony is fishy, seeing as how the nurse did not disclose this info to her, leading the lawyer to believe that Angelo and his lawyer must be paying off the nurse. She suggests the Kennish’s do not get involved with Angelo because they could all go to jail. Serious buzz kill.
We still aren’t sure what the Kennish fam is going to do, but one things for sure, Angelo is not leaving.
The Band Needs Help
Toby and Wilke want to play at a music festival but in order to do this they need Emmet to play with them. Emmet has no interest and tries to get them away. He gets very frustrated by the two boys and Bay speaking so quickly and feels lost in the conversation, leading to a fight with Bay. Big brother Toby goes to Emmet’s school to confront him and tells him not to mess with his sister. You tell him Toby!
The Girls Go At It
As no episode would be complete with some Bay-on-Daphne drama, this week was filled to the brim. Aside from the daddy issues arising with Angelo’s return, there’s still the matter of Emmet.
Daphne tells Emmet she’s into him and then they kiss! But Emmet pulls away and tells her he’s with Bay. However, later he picks a fight with Bay about her not being Deaf and she realizes that Daphne must have told him. After Toby tells off Emmet he realizes his big mistake and goes to apologize to Bay, saying he’s with her.
The resolution between the two leads to Emmet agreeing to play the festival with the boys. When they are all packing up and ready to go Emmet and Bay share a very intense kiss, with Daphne staring over her should like she could burn them with her eyes. When the boys leave Bay asks if everything is alright between them, meaning to talk about the Angelo situation; however, Daphne shoots back and tells Bay she’s not giving up on Emmet (aka, he’s mine). You know, when Bay would get upset in the past she would always get very sulky and melodramatic, which is fine and I can deal with. But when Daphne gets mad she turns into such a bratty bitch. DISLIKE. Daphne seriously needs to back off, she had her chance and she missed it. Instead of fighting with Bay she should wait it out, we all know she’s meant to be with Emmet, just not right now…
