Nice Boy of the Week: Keith David

By  |

Giving The Cape some love in this week’s Nice Boy, we have the wonderful Keith David, who plays Max Malini on the show. We met Keith at NBC’s Wired party last July during Comic Con, and he was so friendly and spoke with us with great enthusiasm about the show and his character.

Max is the leader of a band of circus performers in the bank robbing business. He is a magician and he takes Vince Faraday (David Lyons) under his wing, teaching him all he knows to become the superhero his son idolizes.

Keith is so accomplished and has so many film/TV/stage projects to his credit, including Platoon, Crash, There’s Something About Mary, Armageddon, Pitch Black: The Chronicles of Riddick, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Barbershop. He guest starred on ER and 7th Heaven, as well as appearances on Law & Order,CSI, and LeVar Burton’s The Tiger Woods Story, receiving  an Emmy Award nomination.

You’ve heard his voice in The Princess and the Frog (Dr. Facilier) and Coraline, as well as video games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Planescape: Torment and The Arbiter for Halo 2.

Last but certainly not least, Keith is also an accomplished singer/songwriter and he has his own band. Later this year, Keith will be releasing his new, jazz and  jazz/hip-hop hybrid album. I wonder if we’ll catch Max singing on the show. Hmm…

Watch Keith on NBC’s The Cape every Monday night, immediately following Chuck.
