Fairly Legal Inspires Rallies in Major Cities
This alert just arrived in my emailbox!
On Wednesday, January 19 and Thursday, January 20, residents of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco will witness rallies for mediation at major sites throughout their city. Inspired by mediator Kate Reed from USA Network’s new series FAIRLY LEGAL, and with signs like, “Get Kate. Mediate.” and “No Litigation, Only Mediation,” the mediation advocates hope to encourage people to see mediation, rather than litigation, as the answer to conflict resolution.
To drive their message home, the advocates will distribute 60,000 custom “Not So Black and White” cookies from Oui Cater in NYC. Instead of the traditional black and white icing, these special cookies will be gray and white and include the statement: “Justice isn’t always black and white. A classic cookie in a shade of gray. Because for Kate Reed, life is never black and white.”
In addition to the cookies, rally participants will hand out cards with information about a FAIRLY LEGAL sweepstakes: consumers can go to fairlylegal.usanetwork.com to win an exclusive 5-day trip for two to San Francisco, Kate’s hometown. For each entry, USA will donate $1 to Peace First, an organization that teaches kids how to talk it out rather than act out.
The rallies are part of USA’s celebration and promotion of the network’s newest original series FAIRLY LEGAL, which premieres Thursday, January 20 at 10/9c. The series stars Sarah Shahi as Kate Reed, a “recovering attorney” who, frustrated with the rigidity of the legal system, quit practicing law to pursue justice from a different angle: as a mediator. Though passionate, savvy, and gifted at her job, Kate’s conflict resolution skills don’t always translate to her personal life.
