FIRST LOOK: Camelot Emerges on Starz

In the middle of our excitement over the return of Merlin (January 7 on Syfy) comes our first look at a more adult version of the Arthurian legend. Camelot comes to Starz on April 1 with a brilliant cast including Jamie Campbell Bower as Arthur, Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere, Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Claire Forlani as Queen Igrain, and Eva Green as Morgan.

The behind-the scenes feature promises sex, violence, and humor as they try to get to the reality of the legend. They’re pitching Camelot as a younger, sexier version of the tale, appealing to audiences who have embraced shows like The Tudors. I think Joseph Fiennes has the best pitch, though:  “Watch this show because…it’s not a musical.”

Attached are new stills of Green, Bower and Fiennes in costume. Eva Green as the evil Morgan (why did they drop the final “a” in Morgana?) and Fiennes as Merlin are sure to chew up the scenery, but Bower seems just a little too pretty to be Arthur.
