Janeane Garofalo Cracks Wise In ‘If You Will’
As a nice girl who is very often foul-mouthed, Janeane Garofalo and I speak the same language much of the time. She’s often crude, frank and often off-beat when performing.
In her recent DVD release, Janeane Garofalo: If You Will – Live in Seattle, the actress and comedienne takes on topics ranging from the personal (grooming, maintenance, habits long established as adolescents) to her roots as an animal lover. For the 65-minute DVD, filmed live before a sold-out audience in Seattle’s Moore Theater, the topics flow back and forth with ease, sometimes responding to the audience’s queries at the same time. Without spoiling the jokes (because who wants to be that girl), the show features many of the qualities I’ve come to expect from her – a quick wit that’s moderately vulgar and more than a little funny.
If you, like me, have been a fan of Janeane Garofalo’s talents on either the big screen (think Dogma or The Truth About Cats and Dogs), or some of her work on the small screen (Lou on The West Wing is still one of my personal heroes), then If You Will will be something to look forward to.
Janeane Garofalo: If You Will – Live in Seattle is now available on DVD.
