Summer Season Finales: The Closer

By  |

Kyra Sedgwick is Brenda Lee Johnson on The Closer

Recent Emmy winner Kyra Sedgwick, in the guise of her character Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the hit TNT series The Closer, has spent the summer investigating gruesome murders in Los Angeles as part of the Major Crimes Division. Throughout the summer episodes, the search for a new Chief of Police has been conducted with Brenda’s name entered into the fray and eventually put on the short list for the coveted position. When the series airs its summer finale, will the new chief be announced? And if so, will it be Brenda or one of the other candidates which incidentally does NOT include Brenda’s long time “boss” Chief Pope (J. K. Simmons)?

Tensions are already high inside the walls of the new and improved, high-tech offices of Major Crimes because of the teams dislike for their new facilities, the insertion of FBI Agent (and Brenda’s husband) Fritz Howard as the liaison between the LA Police and the FBI as well as the aforementioned search for the new Chief. What will happen in the finale is anyone’s guess, but Brenda will face it with her usual Southern charm and cunning diligence. The real question is, how will the rest of the division, let alone Pope, react should Brenda be named Chief?

Stay tuned for all the excitement of The Closer summer season finale on September 13 at 9/8c on TNT.
